Project Summary

The iSecure is a system that will help the police, stores, universities, banks and other public places to identify if someone from the crowd is carrying arms, fighting or performing any activity that is categorized as anomalous. The management will be notified immediately as any anomalous (unusual) activity occurs. The management will see the location along with the video broadcast of what is going on there so that they can take appropriate actions accordingly. This system can be used by any organization, store or public place. Machine learning and Computer Vision will be used to implement this project. This system will decrease the response time and human effort of watching videos of multiple security cameras for many hours because sometimes the person watching the videos may not be properly paying attention to all the camera videos at once on multiple screens.

Many videos having unethical and illegal Exhibition of arms, snatching of valuables from citizens, damage of property or fights are being shared on social media or News channels for possible identification  of culprits which in turn does not come out successful 100% of the times because the event has already occurred in the past. This does not benefit the victim as it would have done if reported in time. Moreover, the person watching the videos of security cameras cannot fully pay attention to all the screens at once. The iSecure will detect the anomalies in each video transmission and inform the respective authority immediately in case of any anomaly. This action will be faster than the traditional approach and the authorities will be able to take actions appropriately in less time.

Project Objectives

Through this project, we want to contribute to society by helping the authorities. As security is a big problem nowadays, due to which many innocent people that are being looted and victimized by some criminals are unable to get the possible relief because authorities are informed late. We take care of the society and want to establish peace and harmony everywhere. This Project will provide ease in tracking unusual activities at indoor public places. It is a good solution to control the exhibition of arms, robberies, killings, and fights. This application is directly linked with the security of the organizations, it will save the loss of life and finance.

We are trying to achieve the following goals

  2. To notify the authorities along with the location and video streaming about any unusual activity.

  3. To prevent the occurrence of unusual activity.

  8. Suspicious activity detection

Project Implementation Method

Mobile application

  • Mobile users should have an android operating system with version 5.0 or above. 

  • They should have 1 GB storage space available.

Web Application

  • The computer can have any operating system with at least 2 GB RAM, 2.1 GHz Dual Core Processor Core i3 2nd generation.

  • There must be an active web browser in a system.

Android application will be implemented in Java as native android application. Having backend API calls to the server for its complete working. 

Web application will be implemented in Django which is a python framework enabling us extra security and strong python backend.

Machine learning and computer vision algorithms will be implemented in python using libraries Tensorflow and Keras for machine learning and OpenCV for image processing. 

The computer (probably local server of the organization) on which the system is to be deployed will be loaded with iSecure System and its setup will be done using Intel Neural Compute Stick 2 (NCS 2). Using Intel NCS 2 will overcome the unavailability of powerful GPU on the server machine while deployment. Android and web apps will be provided with the account’s login enabled and all the application’s will start synchronizing data over the internet once setup completely.

User Assumption

  • An android device having an android version of 5.0 or above.

  • A PC with at least 2 GB RAM, 2.1 GHz Dual Core Processor Core i3 2nd generation.

  • Good internet connection is required.

System Dependencies

  • Firebase must be available 24/7.

  • HD Camera must be recording 24/7.

  • System should be available 24/7.

Benefits of the Project

  1. To detect forbidden objects and weapons.

  2. To detect suspicious and unusual activities.

  3. To inform the operator immediately that will save his effort and time of monitoring the multiple camera screens.

  4. To inform the concerned agencies immediately so that they can take appropriate actions to avoid criminal activity.

  5. To keep track of and monitor people in its view.

  6. To help predict the facts about criminals and make a report.

  7. To help save physical and financial loss.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  1. System will use techniques of Computer vision to detect suspicious objects, estimate pose, and analyze humans through Python, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.

  2. Python scripts containing machine learning will run on the server placed on the premises and will process the videos being sent to the server via Video over IP. 

  3. The web app will be built in Django.

  4. The mobile apps will be built for android (in java) and for ios operating system (in swift).

  5. MySQL and Firebase will be used as data storage and management technologies. 

  6. Mobile app, web app will communicate with the server using HTTP or HTTPS protocol.

  7. IP cameras will be connected to the server via IP.

  8. Authentication will be done using Web APIs present on the server along with two-factor authentication.

  9. iSecure will transfer data analytics to a cloud backup for safety daily.
