As population is growing, there is a dire need of enhancing yield and quality of the crops, To overcome this problem we use tunnel farming technique. Tunnel farming resemble green house, it is plastic covered, and solar heated structure in which crops are grown. We easily grow of-seasons crops on small area of land, by controlling the temperature inside the tunnel. Temperature management is one of the most critical factors in successful production.Temperature and humidity can affect crop growth.Typically, tunnels are ventilated by manually control rolling the sides up or down as needed. We can only enhance our production through adopting modern technology, producing resistance verities.We live in world where everything can be controlled and operated automatically, but there are still a few important sectors in our country where automation has not adopted or not been put to a full-fledged use, perhaps because of several reasons, one such reason is cost. Tunnel farming is an important part of the agriculture and horticulture sectors in our country as they can be used to grow plants under controlled climatic conditions for optimum production. Automatic tunnel farming can monitoring and controlling of the climatic parameters temperature, humidity and soil moisture. These system based on wired network, wired network has a problem of wire complexity and require maintenance with respect to time, whereas wireless network resolves the wire complexity and maintenance problem. So, this project would help the farmers to monitor and control the entire farming process through IoT which would cause an overall increase in the profit of crop production. The internet of things (IoT) technology expanding rapidly in this era and agriculture is promising application where sensor and wireless communication devices are used to monitor and control cultivation.The system can solve the problem of complex cabling with the advantages of low power consumption, low cost, good robustness, extended flexible and high reliability. An effective tool is provided for monitoring and analysis decision-making of the greenhouse environment.

Extreme weather changes and contaminated soil air are the cause of plant production problems in open field crop production. Climate control can create the best environment for crops to grow, minimize the cost of production, and improve the quality of production. The main aim of the system is to design a IoT based tunnel farming system. The system can solve the problem of complex cabling with the advantages of low power consumption and low cost.
IoT based tunnel farming deals with the wireless sensor networks. Silent feature of our project is to make a wired sensor into wireless by using ESP8266 NodeMCU WiFi module. Dht11 ( temperature and humidity) and Yl-69 (soil moisture) sensor are converted with the single ESP8266 module. The ESP8266 itself is a self-contained WiFi networking solution offering as a bridge from existing micro controller to WiFi and is also capable of running self-contained applications. ESP8266 uses an IoT platform for the monitoring of the parameters that are settled in the tunnel farm. We are using Blynk IoT platform, The most popular IoT platform to connect your devices to the cloud, design apps to control them, and manage your deployed products at scale Its a one time paid platform that provides a real time interface for the monitoring of the data.
Food production and distribution are among humanity’s greatest challenges. The global population is predicted to touch 9.6 billion by 2050 – this poses a big problem for the agriculture industry. Despite combating challenges like extreme weather conditions, rising climate change, and farming’s environmental impact, the demand for more food has to be met. To meet these increasing needs, agriculture has to turn to new technology. Smart farming based on IoT technologies will enable growers and farmers to reduce waste and enhance productivity from optimizing fertilizer use to increasing the efficiency of farm vehicles’ routes. Access to enough fresh & safe food is already problematic in less advanced parts of the world and is only going to worsen if things remain the same. Smart agriculture makes it possible to avoid challenges and remove all issues that may arise during farming processes. So the quality of the product is growing and consumers get a good product of high quality. Through tunnel farming, it is possible to overcome the three main obstruction that impact agricultural growth: chronic water shortages, low yield per acre and low value of crop production. Tunnel farming operates on the principle that of creating conditions during winter that are equivalent to those in summers.
In IoT-based smart farming, a system is built for monitoring the crop field with the help of sensors ( Humidity, Temperature and Soil moisture). The farmers can monitor the field conditions from anywhere. This farming is highly efficient when compared with the conventional approach. This farm covers an area of 15*20 sqft with the height of 8 ft covered with polythene sheet. Scope of the project deals with the wireless sensor network So, It includes Dht11 ( temperature and humidity) and Yl-69 (soil moisture) and ESP8266 NodeMCU WiFi module. The sensors collect all the information from the tunnel and send it to the real time interface of one time paid IoT platform (blynk). In Summer the temperature is controlled by using cooling pad in the tunnel and the humidity will be controlled by the exhaust fans
