IOT Based Smart street Light System
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe existing street light system is consuming a lot of energy because whole night the lights are glowing with full intensity even in the absence of vehicles or pedestrains. This is totally the wastage of energy that is why we are designing a system which can reduce the energy by automatically switching ON and OFF the street lights.
Project Objectivesoptimize power consumption, secure RF communication, fault detection, automatic switching of the street lights, energy saving, reduction of manpower
Project Implementation Methodthe aim of project is to design an efficient energy system for street lights. As for demo prupose we implement it on two street lights when a car comes near the light, the sensor will sense it,the light turns ON and its brightness is low. When the car reaches below pole, maximum light is ON and when the car goes away from the pole then light intensity again falls. As ultrasonic sensor is used to check the distance between the car and the pole in this way we can save energy and our system is smart. It only runs at night as LDR is here to sense day and night time.If any fault appears in pole the data is sent to the cloud where concerned departments can see th fault and locate the place for correction of fault.
Benefits of the Projecthuge reduction of energy and maintenace cost, increase public safety from improved lighting, safer traffic due to increased visibility of hazards ,measurable environmental impact due to reduced energy consumption.
