Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryProject will provide software based hardware to City Municipal Corporations and Metropolitan Authorities to monitor the level of waste and periodically manage it. The proposed digital system sends real-time notifications to concerned officials and monitoring of waste dustbins, kept in different location across the cities. This project will create high and low skill jobs like operators, drivers and cleaners. It is not only a project but also a startup for business that will generate the revenue and reduce the poverty rate in Pakistan. To smoothen the management of waste and to adopt proactive approach rather than reactive approach after mismanagement of garbage across the country, solution is over all highly admired and accepted in Pakistan’s Municipal Authorities, for proper management and to ensure healthy environment for life with great efficiency.
Our idea will introduce the features across worldwide given below:
- Real- Time SMS notification and minute by minute Data extraction of;
- Environment Quality – Garbage level, Moisture, Static Pressure, Flame
- Surveillance system can be used as an assistive technology for high quality of service in waste collection.
- Central Monitoring of solid waste management system across cities of Pakistan.
The solution's objectives are as under:
- As the population of a city grows, the necessity for a proper waste management becomes critical.

Proposed Waste management system uses smart world technologies like IoT, Big data and Artificial Intelligence.
The technical details for the project are:
- There will be microcontroller which will collects the data from sensors and detectors and then push it to the cloud application.
- Sensors and detectors will be used to ensure the performance as well as device security i.e: sensors are used to measure garbage level while detectors are used here to provide safety to the device.
- LCD screen will be used to display that the bins are fully filled and real time notification will be sent to drivers by concerned authorities in order to empty the bins.
- There will be cloud which will be capable to hold highly frequent data from smart bins kept in different areas.
- An application will be used to monitor the smart bins by concerned authorities to ensure the cleanliness.
