Project Summary

The massive deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) is allowing Smart City projects and initiatives all over the world. The IoT is a modular approach to merge various sensors with all the ICT solutions. With over 50 billion objects will be connected and deployed in smart cities in 2020. The heart of smart cities operations is the IoT communications. IoT is designed to support Smart City concept, which aims at utilizing the most advanced communication technologies to promote services for the administration of the city and the citizens. This paper is presenting a comprehensive review of the concepts of IoT and smart cities and their motivations and applications. Moreover, this paper describes the main challenges and weaknesses of applying the IoT technologies based on smart city paradigms.

The technology developed to create the “smart cities” can make cities more effective and efficient in the use of resources, which is necessary given the projected fast growth in urban populations over the next decades. By the year 2030 60 % of the papulation will be living in urban areas or big cities let us try to understand world biggest cities papulation is increasing rapidly and the problems as well as the papulation grows the number of problems in that city also grow. For example Traffic management problem, parking problems area water monitoring problems streets lights problem etc. we are looking forward to all these things how these problems can be solved with the help of IoT. There many other problems to but we have chosen few common of these like. Smart Car parking system, Smart water monitoring System, Smart Street lights system and temperature monitoring system.

this project is consists of hardware + Software based each sector have its own coding, hardware and connectivity. and have seprate working accordingly.

we designed the city model on 3*2 hard sheet and attached all the project on that like smart car parking project with slots and parking area, we have designed road and footpaths for attaching street light polls, we have also designed a tang in this model for water level monitoring system and area for monitoring temperature and humidity in this module we have designed some buildings parks and other thing to look like a real smart city the pictures.

Benefits of the Project

As the world is growing and technology is being advance day by day and country are moving to smart cities by using internet of things (IoT).

Smart car parking system nowadays finding car parking is a big issue in densely populated cities. There are too many cars on the road but there are not enough parking spaces. One of the biggest problems when we walk into a parking lot and see that there are no empty parking spaces for parking our cars. Important time. Another big problem after entering a large parking lot we were confused to find an empty parking lot to park our car. At times, we may all face the same dilemma that drains our precious time. That is why we need efficient parking management systems in all parking spaces that will provide seamless and easy parking.

Smart Street light controllers are smarter versions of the mechanical or electronic timers previously used for street light ON-OFF operation. They come with energy conservation options like twilight saving, staggering or dimming. Also many street light controllers come with an astronomical clock for a particular location or a Global Positioning System (GPS) connection to give the best ON-OFF time and energy saving. Automatic Street Light Control System is a simple and powerful concept, which uses transistor as a switch to switch ON and OFF the street light automatically.

Smart water monitoring system will give us insights about the water we have used an ultrasonic sensor the track the water level the LCD display will show us the percentage. And this help us in reducing leakage & wastage. The process requirements in many industries, farms, hostels, hotels etc. include a water over head tank, which is usually supplied with an an electric pump turned off there the tank is filled, and when it is empty. Like, a common way to know when the tank is filled with observation when it overflows in the mouth. Here we will present our basic idea suggestion.

Temperature and humidity monitoring DHT11 sensor used with Arduino has to improve this project. The performance of this project depends on the serial communication of a single phone. The first Arduino transmits the first signal to the DHT module and the DHT produces a response signal that combines temperature and humidity data. Arduino collects and removes in two parts one moisture and the second temperature and sends them to a 16x2 LCD.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The concept of smart cities has gained a lot of attention lately and will likely continue to do so in the future. Cities publish smart programs, related conferences are trending and more books are being written on the subject. Smart technology can provide cities with solutions by helping them save money, reduce carbon emissions and control traffic flow. But the complexity of the agenda hinders its progress. It includes a large number of participants (local authorities, citizens, technology companies and academics) each with their own vision of what a smart city should be; most debates have the problem of trying to understand what ‘intelligence’ means rather than focusing on how it can help cities meet their goals. In addition, as the smart technology market is new, it needs new business models and operating systems that are yet to be developed and implemented
