In Past few years, fire alarm systems have increasingly become sophisticated and functionally more capable and reliable. The two main objectives are the protection of life and property. As a result of state and local codes, fire protection has become more and more concerned with life safety over the past two decades. There have been several safety measures implemented to address the problems caused by the fires and reduce the number of fatalities and property damage. Fire alarm systems are designed to warn people about fires in advance so that they can evacuate the fire-affected area and take immediate action to control the fire. Our project is to develop a fire alarm navigation system that uses the Internet of Things. There will be a GPS module, a flame sensor, a smoke sensor, buzzers, and a GSM module to ensure early notification to authorities and fire stations. The aim is to reduce the loss of lives and property in Pakistan. The alarm system is equipped with a dedicated application for receiving the notification and location of fire incidents. The application is featured with Google Maps for guiding the exact location and shortest distance of fire incidents.

Project Objectives

Historically, fire disasters have been most prevalent in densely populated areas. From January to September 2021, the Rescue 1122 fire head station in Punjab, Pakistan reported 60 fire cases in Lahore, including 22 in the densely populated residential areas of West Lahore. There is a serious need for fire prevention and mitigation in urban areas, especially since fire commonly occurs in urban areas. Statistically, this incident happened in Pakistan due to the unawareness of people about fires. There are literally more deaths and the owner is experiencing a higher rate of loss. A Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) study shows that about two children are burned to death every two weeks. Most of these burns occur at home. There are about 6000 houses destroyed in fires every year. The existing fire alarm systems are manually operated and some of them are equipped with water sprinklers, Using water on some fires, like Class B and C fires, can actually make them more dangerous. According to stats the fire at night is more diaster because it could be detected lately and manual fire alarms are not effective in case of fire at night.

Our goal will be to develop a system that facilitates and enables firefighters to perform faster than ever before. To notify the fire station of where the fire is located in the building this proposed system will be used. This system can also be used in emergency situations to reduce time taken in situations such as fires and may reduce injury or mortality rates among fire victims and save the property and minimize the casualities in Pakistan.

Project Implementation Method

Due to late information about fire and smoke leads to a huge disaster. Sometimes traffic blockage and lack of information about the exact location of fire incidents cause a huge number of casualties. So it is a crucial need of time to develop a system that can operate automatically and effectively inform fire head stations about the location of the fire incident. We came up with a solution of “IOT Based Fire Alarm Navigation System”.
