Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV’s) are widely used to monitor the occurrences of crimes on certain premises. Although CCTV’s are deployed at various public and private areas to monitor the surroundings, there is a less likely improvement in the control of crimes. This is because CCTV requires human supervision which may lead to human prone errors like missing some important crime events by a human while monitoring so many screens recorded by CCTV’s at the same time. Intelligent Surveillance is a technique in which traditional security devices like cameras or sensors are used in such a way that they not only record or capture an irregularity but also respond to it.
A traditional surveillance system can only record malicious activities but cannot respond to them. As a result, an extras pair of eyes is always required to respond to such activities. But for sake of ease, this intelligent approach to the surveillance system is used.
The objective of the project is to achieve the following.
An object detection algorithm will be implemented in order to detect suspicious objects in secured premesis. Furthermore, the activity which may lead to any unfortunate incident in secured premises will be detected and reported.
This project covers both software and hardware used for its implementation.
