Project Summary

The first impression is the most important one in corporate world. That’s the reason, in many cases, it is still important to dress more professionally, regardless of the working environment. In this regard shoe polishing and good shoe shining plays an important role. The drawback in manual shoe polishing is that it damages the surface of leather and decrease the life of the leather shoes. Also polishing consumes too much time and takes too much human effort. The machines available in market do not produce a job equivalent to the results obtained by cleaning and polishing shoes by hand.

As all the employees, faculty etc. are required to wear clean shoes before entering their laboratories as the laboratories have highly prĂ©cised instruments, sensors etc. and the air inside should be very clean. Sole cleaner with shoe polishing machine is designed to consider all the parameters with respect to customer needs and requirements in terms of portability and economically available to them, thus providing not only clean environment but also style quotient to the person with polishing effect. This project propose to reduce the burden of manual operation and at the same time increase the use of modern techniques. The innovative shoe polishing machine is used to polish/clean shoes within a short interval of time which reduces human effort.

Project Implementation Method

First, customer has to use the GUI/Touch panel to start the process. GUI will display RFID card scanner option, customer has to scan pre-paid RFID card, then selection option of shoe color(black/brown) will be shown on display. If customer select black color, then machine change brush position automatically and set all black brushes face toward working station where shoe has to be placed for polishing and same process for brown color option will be done. After that user has to select the option of shoe shiner or shoe shiner with wax. If user only want to clean small dust particles, then shoe shiner option will be suitable for that work otherwise shiner with wax option is optimal for complete polishing process. After all of that message will display on the screen to place shoe on the rack and press start button. Approximately within 40 seconds single shoe polish/clean properly, then message for placing the other shoe on rack will display on GUI and after placing shoe user have to again press start button to start further process. Approximately 2 minutes will be taken in whole process to properly polish/clean a pair of shoes. We use different components and modules to cover whole process. Which are given below.

Arduino:

Arduino is an open source microcontroller which can be easily programmed, erased and reprogrammed at any instant of time. It is also capable of acting as a minicomputer just like other microcontrollers by taking inputs and controlling the outputs for a variety of electronics devices.We can use Arduino to control the main function of machine.

RFID Tag:

RFID systems consist of three components in two combinations: a transceiver (transmitter/receiver) and antenna are usually combined as an RFID reader. A transponder (transmitter/responder) and antenna are combined to make an RFID tag. An RFID tag is read when the reader emits a radio signal that activates the transponder, which sends data back to the transceiver. We can use RFID tag to startup the machine.

GUI:

The graphical user interface is a form of user interface that allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and audio indicator such as primary notation, instead of text-based user interfaces, typed command labels or text navigation.

DC Motors:

A DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical motors that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current in part of the motor.

Limit Switches:

They are used for controlling machinery as part of a control system, as a safety interlocks, or to count objects passing a point. They can determine the presence or absence, passing, positioning, and end of travel of an object.

Benefits of the Project

This project will cover all aspects regarding shoe polishing/cleaning process. Using this project, there will be great reduction in child labor as we can easily observe that most of shoe cleaner in our societies are children whom should go to school for education  rather then polishing someone's shoes and after getting proper education they should made positive change in society. As we know much time and human efforts has been taken in shoe polishing process, the proposed machine will innovate the whole process and reduce the time to 120 seconds. This machine will not only save time or human efforts, but it also creates job in markets. Whoever buy this machine will generate revenue from this by providing the shoe polishing service to customer by charging them a nominal price against service. It will be a great attraction for customers as it has touch screen Graphical User Interface and RFID Scanner for the usage of machine.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • First user have to press start button on GUI to start the process. When start button pressed Nextion MCU will display next page and demand for the RFID Card Scan.
  • RFID Card have passive antenna in it whenever bring it near to MFRC522 RFID Scaner it will be activate and send data to Microcontroller.
  • if acces granted from  microcontroller then next page will be appered on GUI display otherwise exit after some interval of time.
  • After that GUI will display selection of Shoe Color (Black/Brown) . Whatever selection have been made by user it will send signal to Microconteoller and Microcontroller will run respective commands.
  • Customer have also avaibalitie to select both (Shiner/polisher) or ethier shiner only.After selection GUI will send commond to Microcontrollar and Microcontroller will run respective code.
  • Customer have to place shoe in the rack and press RUN button to start process.
  • After 60 seconds shoe will polish proper,then change foot and place second shoe in the rack and press button RUN.
  • Within 120 seconds shoe pair will polished properly.
