Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryIn the last decade, the world has seen an immense global advancement in technology, both in hardware and software. The camera sensor manufacturing industry has also advanced in its manufacturing techniques to produce good quality high-resolution (HR) digital cameras. To cope with the strong demand for higher-resolution imagery, image-processing techniques are used as a solution to generate good quality HR imagery such as Super???Resolution image (SR); reconstruction is a technique of digital imaging which attempts to reconstruct Higher Resolution (HR) imagery by fusing the partial information contained within several under-sampled low-resolution (LR) images of that scene during the image reconstruction process. This project is the need of the local community and there hasn’t been enough research based on this project however most of the research is based on Gas leakage detection; the project will also help the authorities in fast-tracking their processes, minimizing the glitches, and is also a one-time cost-effective project.
Project ObjectivesFollowing are the objectives for this project;
- To implement SR techniques (SR); for Sui gas meter’s health monitoring through multiple cameras & sensors in UET Mardan.
- To enable smart remote monitoring of Gas Meter using SR technique through software.
- To propose a cost-effective smart solution using Arduino; to overcome over-billing within the gas utility distribution system due to sticky meters.
Following are methods to implement the project:
- Selecting a relevant SR technique for converting an image of low resolution into a higher resolution & Implementing, it through software.
- Designing the Prototype; for constant monitoring of gas, and meter using cameras, sensors & Arduino.
- Validating the results from the software & Hardware model.

Benefits of the ProjectThe results of this project would certainly show that it is possible to determine a Gas meter’s Health at far higher resolutions than current commercial systems provide. This technology should also apply to different authorities in Pakistan;
- SNGPL/SSGPL:
Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited can use this technology for constant monitoring of the Gas meter’s Health on a wider scale across the region.
- WAPDA:
This Project will possibly apply to the water and power development authority
for keeping a track of their electricity meters placed across large water Dams or housing societies.
- CONSUMER’S FINANCIAL BURDEN:
The utilization of the results of this project would help to reduce the consumer’s financial burden because the consumer will timely report the fault in the meter and shall not receive a sticky meter bill which is usually of a high amount.
This project will also help the authorities in fast-tracking their processes, minimizing the glitches, and is also a one-time cost-effective project. All the above applications make this project a Spend-worthy one.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableFollowing are the Technical Details of the final deliverables of the project:
- A detailed report regarding the work being done in this project, every component, and its working will be explained.
- Starting from the initial proposal to the final thesis everything regarding the project will be explained.
- The hardware components list will be provided with the cost of each component being stated.
- A report will be submitted to the supervisor on the relevant SR technique which is selected.
- An untested prototype which will components e.g Arduino and GSM module Etc.
- At last, a final project model will be presented along with its detailed report.
