The design of elevator control system with programmable logic control unit suitable for serving as transportation means in the required building or any institution. The model of elevator will be created using programmable logic unit and SCADA will be provided as a mean of facilitation inside a multiple floored building. The design calculations will be as per the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers United states). In order to minimize the faults and negligence in traditional elevator systems, it will be stationed perpendicularly inside the building. For this purpose we will design an effiecnt programmable logic unit system interfacing with SCADA to minimize the mechanical and electrical faults and it will detect and eradicate the possible faults and errors. Based on the load requirements and extra battery will be stationed to need the required power for the system to function. To assess the performance of the elevator system simulation will be done and required parameters will be calculated from the observed values. In addition the maximum number of fault detecting sensors will also will be added to the system so the elevator system can function more efficient and reliable.

Project Objectives

Elevator system plays a vital role in regular human activities as a means of transportation within a multistory building. To carry out the human activities throughout elevator system is required such a system should be less faulty and safe for humans it should be environmentally and functionally suitable for people working inside the task area. The power required by the system can also be generated from backup source such as a battery meeting the energy demand and available power in a judicious way is the solution for energy shortage crisis prevailing now and in future. The elevator system using PLC will have following characteristics

Faults in system can be minimized and detected using PLC

Uniform weight distribution will be assured in the space

Suitable sensors will be used to detected the maximum no of faults

Minimizing the chances for accidence and mishaps

Location of Faults using SCADA will ensure the best performance of the systems

Project Implementation Method

First the simulation of the ladder programming will be done for the Programmable logic unit. For the specified parameters we will try to make elevator system closed to no faulty conditions SCADA will be used for better detection of faults and errors, in order to minimize the previous faults conditions which are appearing in previous elevator system. Also the classroom model (a scale version of three floor building) will be made for physical representation. The elevator system will work according to the simulated results.

Benefits of the Project

Elevator system will have an ability for conducting real time and remote monitoring and testing of it. This benefit is great to facilitate managers with multiple buildings or to monitor. It will notify any problems, and fault detection is easy possible. This system has increased reliability and ease for the people and required less maintenance and repair. With the ability to remotely monitor and test elevator system will reduce time wastage. It can save lift engineers time and efforts and it will also be able to save time for the people using the services of our elevator system. This ability to quickly flag and deal with all the issues will lead to increase satisfaction from the users lift maintenance, lift engineers, building owners and every person included in between. Elevator system don’t have to involve replacements of parts or entire lift, its modular nature will allow you to choose and pick our devices installed in the system. It will be more (cost effective) for a lift or maintenance engineers to upgrade our lifts

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Prior to the chip based controller circuit based elevator system which were not able to with standard the harsh conditions of industries and hospitals due to the slow processing speed we modified it to the best controller (programmable logic unit) providing automation and has an ability to overcome faulty situations. Due to the functional programming PLC has many advantages over the embedded systems such as I integrated diagnostics and override functions. Ladder programming helps us in diagnostics are centrally available and documented and duplicated I'm it whereas. SCADA is used to supervise and control the working of elevator system due to its ability of data acquisition. It also generates solutions for upcoming problems and faults which may effect in the programming related to the floor skipping door open at middle floor and loading efficiency. There are multiple numbers of sensors which are installed in the system such as overloading smoke detectors over current relay motion sensor which are able to minimize the mishaps and casualties. The DC battery is also given to the system in case the power the system is disturbed or not meeting the required value .The simulation of the project has been done using the software for ladder programming. The most crucial benefit of the system is that it's connected with that SCADA monitoring system which will be able to coordinate and detect any faults without using human resources and able to provide safe and efficient system.
