We are designing an HVDC (High voltage direct current)grid model. In which we are using flyback push-pull transformer in order to step up the DC voltage.
This technology plays an important role in power transmission because it reduce transmission losses.
We can merge DC system into AC system using HVDC technology
We can also use this technology to transmit electricity produced by solar or any renewable energy sources to rural areas.
It is low cost system hence improving ecnomic status of the country.
The transmission process involves conversion of AC voltage into DC voltage by using rectifiers and then stepping up the DC voltage by using converters then transmitting it to a distant place through a long wire and then converting it into AC through inverters at the other end of transmission line
The general objective of this project is to use of direct current for transmission to a particular distance then invert it into AC at receiving end.
For this project our main objective is to use flyback converters that boost up the DC voltage and then transmit it to a long distance through a transmission line.
This technique is beneficial for the country economics .It this technique can be used to produce mass amount of electricity using solar energy and it will improve the power transmission system decreasing the line losses and load shedding.
First of all we study research papers regarding hvdc and HVAC transmission systems we get the inspiration and idea to use converters for this technology. We get the inspiration of this project through hvdc technology implementing in Pakistan and now we are making a prototype of this technology.
We design the block diagram flow chart and then simulate our model in proteus.
Then we design the hardware and perform testing for different distance transmission and different loads
The main benefit of this project is to decrease losses in transmission line. It is beneficial for on grid implementation, offshore on shore matching, stepping up DC from low dc.
It can also be used for domestic purpose is due to low voltage gain from PV modules.
First of all we use step down transformer to convert 220 voltage to low voltages and then use rectifiers to convert Ac to DC. Then we use to flyback push pull converters in order to boost up the DC voltage so we are using pwm technique in order to run the flyback converter and then we transmit it to a transmission line to a certain distance and then convert it by using inverters at the end of transmission. We are using H-bridge inverter and we are controlling it through pwm technique using arduino.
