Home automation is where technology and convenience converge increasing the comfort and quality of life. IOT based home automation system is a concept of controlling and monitoring home appliances through the internet. This project is intended to construct a system based on IOT for controlling devices and appliances remotely using Smartphone android application and ESP32. The android application is used to monitor and control the state of the appliances from anywhere throughout the world. ESP32 operates and controls sensors for sensing and surveillance. These sensors include temperature sensors, light sensors (LDR), motion sensors (PIR) etc. which are used for the automation of lights, fans and doors of the IOT based smart home.
1) IOT based home automation using ESP32 should control and operate home appliances like fans, lights, temperature, smoke, time etc. effectively and efficiently.
2) To make it possible for disable and old people to stay at home safe and comfortable without a caretaker
3) This home automation system is practical means it can be implemented in our industries, offices and homes
The project is divided into three parts:
• Server (data is stored in it), if we want to make a connection between two things server will help us in this. In this project we want a connection between our phone and ESP32. Server will help us in making this connection. So that, we can control and automate our appliances with a single click on the web page and through this we will be aware of status. 16 • ESP32 having different ports and have a built-in WIFI module. USB ports are present in it. It has GPIO pins for the connections, on input pins we are connecting the sensors and on output pins we are connecting the home appliances.
• End user (which is our cell phone through which we can communicate with our appliances and give commands for different actions)
To make it possible for disable and old people to stay at home safe and comfortable without a caretakere. Also, now a day, everywhere in the world IOT makes the life more reliable. Everything is on internet so we want to enhance the quality of life of new generation by using internet on smart phones so that home appliances can be controlled easily from anywhere. Almost everything is automated, and everyone wants luxurious lifestyle. It is estimated that one day every house will be a smart house containing automatic control system.
IOT based home automation system using ESP32 is designed to control and automate the home appliances (lights, fans etc.). We are also automating doors and windows by using servo motor, this servo motor will rotate at 180 degree angle and we are using the DC motor in order to automate our fans. In this project we are using ESP32, it is just like a computer as it has an audio video jack, Ethernet port for internet connectivity, USB ports are also available in ESP32 to connect keyboard, mouse etc. ESP32 has input output pins. On input pins we are connecting sensors like temperature, humidity, LDR and motion detector (ultrasonic sensor and PIR sensor). Its output pin is connected to a relay module and through relay module, we are connecting the appliances like fan, bulbs etc. We will make a webpage on our phone and an IP address is assigned to each appliance there is a wireless connectivity between phone and raspberry when we want to give a command to appliance it will work according to it, when any fault occur, we get a notification in our phone. We will take an action according to the situation.
