Project Summary

A study on a gesture interactive system for displays that does not require the user to hold any device. In the proposed system, the user stands in front of a display and use his hands to interact with the information presented on the screen. Gesture interaction is becoming an increasingly interesting option even in traditional computing.

Project Objectives

  1. Research on available techniques / algorithms used for hand gesture based interaction with larger display.
  2. To models systems for classifying hand gestures with large displays.
  3. select the best method/algorithms from the set of available algorithms on the bases of results obtained from the model systems.
  4. To improve the accuracy of the estimated gesture by enhancing the algorithm for better results and interaction.

Project Implementation Method

  1. use of high quality camera for capturing images.
  2. using image processing libraries.
  3. detecting a person's hand in front of camera and then his hand gesture
  4. machine learning libraries to extract features from images
  5. train the system through data sets.
  6. gether data sets for the system.

Benefits of the Project

A gesture based input techniques to allow the interaction with displays avoiding the use of any device attached to ther user body. The gestures supported to provide navigation, selection and manipulation of objects , as well as zooming on the screen. Can be used in workplaces where the users are busy to interact through device as it requires some time, gesture interaction is efficient for the user.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

As in past the work done in hand gesture field to interact with displays lacks some accuracy and somehow does not gave the required output.

The gestures supported provide navigation, selection and manipulating of objects, as well as zooming pn the screen.

final deliverable will include both software and hardware in which hardware includes LCD, Camera and PC. This system will control interactions with the help of hand gestures.
