Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThe project has been designed keeping in the view the current law and order situation in Pakistan and throughout the world. Everyday hundreds of trained personnel are either injured or lose their lives while defusing bombs. The idea of this robot is to provide the bomb disposal squad with safety and security from the risk that they face everyday. The bomb disposal squad have metal detectors and other equipment for bomb detection and disposal but they have to risk their lives by approaching the bomb or the suspicious packet without any safety and precautions. Our robot provides an extra layer of protection to the bomb disposal squad which is remotely bomb defusing with the help of gyro sensor for movement of robot and VR glasses for view.
Gyro accelerometer robotic arm for bomb defusing is a prototype that can be used for bomb defusing with the help of robot and reduce the human interaction near to bomb place. The end project will be a four wheels robot with robotic arm that is moveable and can be controlled through Hand gestures and mobile is placed on VR glasses for view. Two cameras are mounted on robot. Furthermore an autonomous robotic arm help in cutting wires of bomb. This gyro accelerometer robotic arm for bomb defusing was fully controlled by the remote and the commands from the remote via bluetooth were received by the Arduino Mega.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of the project is to make an efficient, secure, digitally controlled robot using for bomb defusing.
It provides safety to the bomb disposal squad by providing an extra line of defense to manipulate the packet using the robotic arm.
Remote-controlled bomb defusing robot will do the job to disable the explosive devices as it lowers down the chances of injury and defused the bomb manually.
With this gyro controlled robotic arm, the bomb disposal operation will be higher efficiency as the robot can be operated in a faster and more intuitive way.
Its movement is precise, accurate, and is easy to control and user friendly to use.
Project Implementation MethodRemotely controlled bomb defusing systems are now growing to play pivotal roles. With the growing role of Remotely Operated Vehicles in bomb defusing scenarios aiding experts to locate, handle and destroy hazardous objects, new intuitive gesture-based systems can be modeled on human hand movements to make the control of a complex gripper arm instinctive. All necessary information is received-from/sent-to the Arduino via Bluetooth. In this robot, a four-wheel-drive robot is designed and developed that can be controlled remotely. Before implementing the robot solid works have been used to simulate the design for better visibility on stability and accuracy. The arm was also carefully simulated and designed to increase the capability. Arm speed, torque, gripping distance, and balance were also thoroughly calculated and tested. The control system used the Arduino Mega. Arduino Mega was used for the sensing parts and communication whereas the driving.
Benefits of the ProjectThere are number of benefits of this robot. It can be used in:

Our project will be used for bomb defusing and reduce the human interaction near to bomb. It helps the bomb squad to defuse the bomb without risking their lives.
This project is very much useful in the places where a human cannot go into the places like ground, oriented caves and this project is very much useful in such critical situations.
It is used as a replacement for humans to do tasks that are a bit critical and risky to human life who have been constantly exposed to methods like bomb defusing. The most important things about these robots also have the capability to perform missions remotely without any danger to human lives.
This robotic system works with the help of wireless technology. With the help of this project, we save the life of bomb disposals and the lives of ordinary people. It has countless applications and can be used in different environments and scenarios.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableRobot structure is four wheels moveable robot and robotic arm is placed on robot. Two cameras are mounted on robot, first camera mounted on the front of the robot, the operator is able to see where the robot is going, along with a second camera mounted on the Robotic arm to provide a wider view of the surrounding area. We placed a cutter at the actuators of robotic arm which cuts the wire of bomb. Robotic arm is controlled by human hand motions. It only cuts those wires that are human instructed. Gyro and accelerometer are inserted on hand gloves and connection through Arduino Nano, toggle button is inserted on hand gloves which used for decision of movement of robot. Let suppose we have two options A & B, when ‘A’ is ‘ON’ and we provide instruction through hand gestures its used for movement for robot (Forward, backward, left, right) and when ‘B’ is ‘ON’ now robotic arm will move around 180 degree. Flex sensor is placed on our fingers which instruct the cutter that was placed on the end of robotic arm. Cutter used for cut the wires of bomb. For viewing the whole scenario, we are using VR glasses, mobile is placed on VR glasses with wireless connection. The robot weight around 5-7 kg so it can easily be carried.
