Globally home Automation system using WiFi and bluetooth technology
Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryHome automation also known as demotic is on among the different types of automations.
Home automation refers to the use of computer and information technology to control home
appliances and features (such as blinds lighting ventilation and many others) system can range from
simple remote control of lighting through to complex computer or micro controller based network
with verying degrees of intelligence and automation through the integration of information
technologies with the home enviroments system and appliances are able to communicate in an
integrated manners which results in convence energy effiency and safty benifits
Project ObjectivesThis project is one of the important Arduino Projects. Arduino based home automation using
Wi-Fi project helps the user to control any electronic device using Device Control app
on their Android Smartphone. The android app sends commands to the controller –
Arduino, through wireless communication, namely, Wi-Fi. The Arduino is connected to
the main PCB which has eight relays as shown in the block diagram. These relays can
be connected to different electronic devices. There are seven different operations in this
project four on the Android Application (GUI) & three are automatically
Aim of project: Aim of project: The aim of the project is to design and construct a home
automation system that will remotely switch ON or OFF any household appliances
connected to it, using a microcontroller, & a smart phone.
Applications: i. Using this project, we can turn on or off appliances remotely i.e. using a
phone or tablet.
ii. The project can be further expanded to a smart home automation system by including some
sensors, safety sensors etc. and automatically adjust different parameters like room
lighting, air conditioning (room temperature), door locks etc. and transmit the
information to our phone.
iii. Additionally, we can connect to internet and control the home from remote location over
Project Implementation MethodThe main objective of this project is to develop a smart home automation system using an
Arduino board with Wi-Fi being remotely controlled by Android OS smart phone. As
technology is advancing so houses are also getting smarter. Modern houses are gradually
shifting from conventional switches to centralized control system, involving remote
controlled switches. Presently, conventional wall switches located in different parts of house
makes it difficult for the user to go near them to operate. Even more it becomes more difficult
for the elderly or physically handicapped people to do so. Remote controlled home
automation system provides a most modern solution with smart phones
In order to achieve this, a Wi-Fi module is interfaced to the Arduino board at the receiver end
while on the transmitter, a GUI application on cell phone sends ON/OFF commands to the
receiver where loads are connected. By touching the specified location on the GUI, the loads
can be turned ON/OFF remotely through this technology. The loads are operated by Arduino
