Project Summary

'The project was introduced, then the development process was described, after that came an evaluation of the development’s results. It was mentioned in the introduction that quadcopters are becoming increasingly popular in commercial use; for that reason it is a growing and exciting field to get into, therefore precedents are not very common. Thus choosing this project was somewhat risky, but it turned out to be an educational and entertaining experience. The objectives and requirements planned were a little ambitious, however that provided a valuable learning opportunity for future work. In addition, assessing the available hardware options to determine which is more suitable benefited the project and reduced the complexity of development. In conclusion despite the unfulfilled objectives and requirements and all the problems faced during this project, it mostly met its aim, the development of an easy to use and intuitive program to pilot a quadcopter via gestures as an alternative to programs that use conventional controls such as a joystick or touch controls.

Project Objectives

Quadcopters have gained a lot of importance in recent years.They are controlled through an RC remote.

We developed a real hand gesture controller that can add an extra feature in flying quadcopters.

OBJECTIVES:

1.A real time hand gesture formation monitor and gesture capture.

2.To make the human interference device.

3.To design and develop the gesture controlled quadcopter,

4.Use to guide through program the quadcopter.

5.To remove the RC remote and wearable gloves

Project Implementation Method

Our design is composed of two main parts: gesture recognition and quadcopter control. The gesture recognition component is responsible for capturing information about the operator in the form of video and depth sensing, recognizing the operator’s hands, and then mapping the operator’s hand movements to predetermined gestures.

Project Implementations:

1.Fix all the parts in the frame properly

2.Connect the Accelerometer sensor to the Arduino board. Make mobile to communicate to the arduino board. Connect the ground telemetry to the mobile through which you can send the signal to the air telemetry.

3.Now the signal created by your hand gestures is received, that signal is being sent to the quadcopter through telemetry. Now you can able to control the quadcopter by the hand gestures.

4.Connect the battery to the power module. Do the calibration with help of mission planner.

5.Install the stable firmware to the flight controller board.

6.Setup the flight mode that you want to fly in your transmitter in the radio calibration setup

7.Do autotune for the more stability where you don't need to give PID values manually

8.Now the quadcopter is ready for flying

Benefits of the Project

Benefits of the project:

1.Due to ease in construction and control,they are used in amateur model aircrafts project.

2.They can traverse through difficult terrains because of their small size and there is less risk of damage too.

3.They can save lives

4.They greatly reduce putting military manpower in combat(in harm).

5.Quadcopters are smaller and are able to fly lower than traditional airplanes and the risk level to military hardware is comparatively low.

6.Quadcopters increase surveillance, reconnaissance,and general military intelligence.

7.Accuracy from larger distance(Military Operations).

8.Quadcopters used in search and rescue applictions.

9.Quadcopters in agricultural use for detecting lands for appropriate plan growth by real hand gesture. 

10.Quadcopters used in filming high level adventure sports where  filming by normal cameras is not feasible and does not give the desired outcomes.

11.Quadcopters used for security and defence .

12.Police department uses quadcopters in crime prevention.

13.Quadcopters are specially useful in risky mission.

14.Low cost, low power ,small size

15.To remove the remote control and wearable gloves.

16.Controlled by real hand gesture simply.

17.Easy to control

18.This quadcopter is also used for watching the streets of the city

19.It is also used for lifting a weight aprox:500gms etc
