Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryAt present farming industry make use of drones for surveillance and monitoring fields these drones are equipped with spectrum sensors that can identify the crop type and its condition. Then there are the conventional farming methods that employ manual labor. Also aerial sprays are used to spray fields with fertilizer and pesticides. Similar Machinery exists but is only household specific; however we are aiming to target research and development departments in pharmaceutical and food industry, where setting up small greenhouse is required. Further we would be using some tool head for multiple operations instead of relying on magnetism for tool selection. Cutting down cost is another objective by using alternative materials to steel. Our foremost challenge to tackle would be able to create a 3 axis mechanical frame that can perform precise movements on fixed co-ordinate system. Another challenge would be to establish effective communication between the mechanical components and phone application.
Project ObjectivesThis project is aimed towards management and monitoring small scale greenhouses. A three-axis moving system that can plant, water and monitor moisture levels for plantations in greenhouses as well as household backyards and roof-top terraces.
Project Implementation MethodOur project has an open base so it can be easily place able in a planting area. It can be implemented in backyard garden, roof top garden, small greenhouses, research labs that research on plants and their hybrids, herbal medicals industries, space garden in space stations and in many other places.
Benefits of the ProjectAgriculture industry has a huge scope for this kind of system as our system can be implemented where research has to be carried out on crop yields, environmental effects on plants and vegetables, effects of different fertilizer or pesticides on crops or for the purpose of studying different plant hybrids, since the future of farming is based on genetically modified crops with superior quality and shorter growing period.
Our target market and potential customers are the research departments in Pharmaceutical industries that produce plant-based products and medicines. Also, food industry where crop production is challenge and can greatly benefitted by our automated system.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe will be able to create 3-axis machine which can seed, detect moisture and water the plants. There will be two modes of operation first mode of operation is that it will do each task at some specific time on daily basis and another mode is that it can be controlled by a mobile application.
