FYP Portal
Project Area of Specialization Software EngineeringProject SummaryAs a graduate student, every student has to make the final year project to get graduated from the University. They have to do a project that will solve a problem. The FYP process starts from taking consent from supervisors and ends at the submission of the final year project under the guidance of the supervisors.
The FYP process takes almost a year to complete. This is a long process, and it is hectic for both students and teachers. Teachers maintain all the records of a group on paper which is time taking. Teachers also have to meet students in-person to approve or disapprove their project proposal.
The problem is there is no automated system in universities to manage the FYP process in a centralized way. Some universities have an FYP portal, but it only manages the data of previous projects. Students can visit these portals to access the previous FYP project reports.
The gap the project team found was that students had to manually submit the project proposals and take the consent from teachers for supervision. On the other hand, teachers have to approve the projects in person. This is a hectic process for both teachers and students. It consumes time of both the teachers and students.
We made an FYP portal that will automate the FYP process of NTU students. Students can take consent from teachers for supervision on this portal. Teachers can accept or reject students' supervision requests and approve or disapprove the project proposals on this portal. Teachers can do this from any place; they do not have to meet students in person. It is time-saving and productive for both teachers and students.
Project ObjectivesOur main objectives are:
- Automated Consent Form:
An Online form can be created for the students. Students can submit consent form to any supervisor or co-supervisor of their desire. Supervisor can approve students request or disapprove.
FYP convener can see all the activities.
- Allotment by convener:
FYP convener can allot the supervisor and co-supervisor.
- Proposal Submission and Approval:
The FYP proposals can be submitted by the students on the portal. FYP committee can approve or disapprove the proposal.
- 15 Days report:
Supervisors and Co-Supervisors can send the 15-day report directly to convener by this portal.
- Mid and Final Evaluation:
Students are able to see their Mid and Final evaluation on this portal.
- Attendance:
Teachers can record weekly attendance of students on this portal.
Project Implementation MethodWe will implement a web-based portal.
Benefits of the ProjectNTU lacks FYP portal. It makes difficulty for both teachers and students to complete FYP related activities.
The main goal of this project is to automate the FYP process of NTU. So, teachers can manage the final year projects of students easily. It makes access of projects and student activities very easy.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- Risks can be avoided with the help of this model because at every iteration, product is tested.
- This project can be expanded if the university needs more functionalities.
- This model gives the opportunity to embrace the change.
- Every iteration refines and improves the product
- Error can be recovered at each iteration.
- Errors during testing can be removed in next iteration
