Foundation University Student Information System
Project Area of Specialization Software EngineeringProject SummaryThe availability of up to date information is a crucial aspect in today's modern world. In a university, academic events and student-centric extracurricular activities are constantly taking place. In the absence of a real-time information system, students are completely unaware of the upcoming events within the university which are good for their academics and social life as well. This project aims to provide a real-time information system called Foundation University Student Information System (FUSIS), which serves as a platform for students, faculty and alumni. For students the system offers a personalized view of time table/date sheet with customizable reminders, information about the upcoming events, providing options to register themselves. This will also serve as communication platform that will enable students as well as faculty members to interact and do discussions, share learning materials. Students will be able to raise and direct queries and launch complaints.
Project ObjectivesThe objective of FUSIS is to provide a solution for the organization to help in providing the concerned information to concerned users within the right time. For students and faculty members, the system is helpful in a way that they will get their concerned timetable information. Also, there will be an option for the customizable reminders for being notified on time. Managing events details and registrations within the system will provide the user with good leisure as from the admin side it would be easy to register students via system than the manual registrations and advertisements. On the other hand, from the student’s side, having all the details about the events and an option to register in them. Alumni will get the benefit by reconnecting with their batch mates by having chat options and provision of social links in profile.
Project Implementation Method
There are four panels in our system. Students, Admin, Faculty, and Alumni. Students will log in/signup to their panel and able to receive notifications of timetable, events and register themselves for the event. Students will able to set the reminder to their timetables Also they will able to send complaints and queries. Faculty members will log in/Signup to their panel and receive notifications. They will able to create groups by selecting students and share files. There are three types of admins in our system. Time table manager, Event manager and HOD panel. The timetable manager will upload the timetable. The event manager will upload details about upcoming events. HOD will handle complaints and queries received from students and faculty members. Initially, the project will be implemented in a web based solution which will further extended to Android application.
Benefits of the ProjectThe main advantage of FUSIS is to provide timely information using push communication. Presently it is being developed for university. Students will be facilitated by up to date information by receiving personalized notifications about timetable, and they will also receive notification of events planned in the university as well as sending nomination for event registration. Faculty members can share or receive notifications, can create study groups by selecting different students and share files (learning resources). Alumni will be able to connect to their batch fellows through this project.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableFUSIS is a web based solution based on push communication model. There are mainly four main panels i.e.. Student Dashboard, Faculty Dashboard, Alumni Dashboard and Admin Dashboard. The context diagram is as follows:
