Designing and manufacturing of feedback controlled  Myo-Electric prosthetic hand using 3d-technology for lower arm amputees which can perform ordinary tasks to nearly act like a normal human.

Project Objectives

The objective is to design a low-cost solution using 3d-printing technology to overcome the affordability issues faced by poor people who cannot afford the latest available solution in the market

Project Implementation Method

Electromyography (EMG) technique is used to detect signals from the forearm of the patient and drive the DC Actuators to perform specific gesture in 3d-printed hand.

Benefits of the Project

The project is a purely Closed loop system to provide robust operation. Similarly, it is designed to minimize the cost-related issues faced by poor people. To implement a perfect cosmetic design of hand so it can be planted on the arm of the amputees.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

3d-printed Hand, DC Actuation System (Servos motor), EMG Signal Detection, Filter Implementation for smooth signals, Feature extraction and performing of following Hand gestures

1. Closing of Hand (Pick and Grab Things)

2. Opening of Hand / Spreading fingers

3. Pinching movement to pick and grab small objects

It also features the movement of thumb in opposed and non-opposed position to perform above-mentioned gestures.
