Feasibility of net metering system for common household in Peshawar
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryNet metering (also known as net energy metering or NEM) is a billing arrangement that allows business and individuals generating their own electricity to deliver unused energy back to their local power grid and get credited back for its retail price. Utility customers are typically issued a meter to measure the amount of electricity being delivered from the grid. Organizations set up for solar net metering use specialized bidirectional meters that also track the amount of electricity flowing back to their local power grid. So, when you are literally burning the midnight oil, the bidirectional meter records how much electricity is being delivered to your facility. And on the sunny side if your solar panel system is in full swing and producing more energy than your operation and use, the meter records how much electricity is received by the utility. A third reading on the meter displays the difference between the amount delivered and received, or “net “energy used. It results into reduction of electricity bills. Solar photovoltaic system is used significantly in net metering. Commercial consumers are targeting purposefully. The study also on analyses the annual savings of electricity and economic feasibility in solar rooftop photovoltaic system.
Project Objectives- The objectives of our project are to analyze the load and make a solar system for it.
- Produces more energy than our required load to sell extra to the grid and get credit of that extra energy.
- To observe the cost of peak hours and off-peak hours.
- To calculate the total cost of project then compare it with the revenue and estimate that how much time will be taken to recover our expended cost.
- How much credit will be added monthly in our account if we sell the extra to the grid.
To produce power from renewable source of energy (from solar panel) so for this purpose we must install the solar panel as required by first calculating the load. Designing the whole system according to the give fig.

Implementation
Fulfill the nepra requirement for net metering policy. According to their policy we will have to be a proper system such that it will be secure, proper earthing, a good wiring system and the function of inverter which is required for an on grid system.
Testing
In testing we can check the result that either the things that we are mentioned in objectives are obtain or not. For this purpose, we must take some readings from net meter as well as to attach some load (5kw) to check either it works or not. Then After visiting of nepra members and if they allow your system you will be provide a meter.
Evaluation:
we are checking that either we obtain the objectives or not.
Benefits of the Project- Reduced electricity bills.
- Benefit for the environment.
- No need to install expensive battery storage system.
- Take some pressure off electric grids.
- Encourages customers to move towards renewable energy.
- Preserves natural energy resources.
- we will develop a framework thay will give a complete information of the cost involved in implemeting a net metering system for different load houses.
- The proposed framework will also give a detailed information about the NPV of the system and help the customers perform the required feasibility with expert personnels.
