Project Summary

Electronic Smart Walker helps the old age people or impaired people in walking, sitting and standing. Electronic smart walker gives an independent support to the user with safety as well. Electronic Smart Walker has the feature of Step Following Wheels which helps the user in walking. It also has the feature of Sitiing and Standing which helps the user in sitting and standing. To give support and safety in sitting and standing, Electronic Smart Walker has the feature of outriggers system which supports the user in sitting down or standing up. To give additional support while in siiting down or standing up, Electronic Smart Walker has the feature of an Automatic Belt. The main motive of Electronic Smart Walker is to make daily routine activities of the user easy as much as possible.

Project Objectives

1. Electronic Smart Walker objective is to help the old age people or impaired people in walking.

2. Electronic Smart Walker objective is to help the old age people or impaired people in sitting down or standing up.

3. Electronic Smart Walker objective is to make the operation of sitting and standing safe.

Project Implementation Method

1. Electronic Smart Walker has the feature of step following. For this purpose it uses ultrasonic sensors, DC Rotary Motor ( brakeable), Arduino UNO Atmega 328P and a 1-channel Relay Module. When the step of the user is in the range of the ultrasonic sensor, the wheels of the walker starts to move forward and when the user is not in the range of the ultrasonic sensor, the walker wheels becomes stop and cannot be able to move because of the brakeable DC rotary motor.

2. Electronic Smart Walker has one more feature of sitting and standing which helps the user in sitting and standing. For this feature it uses 2-  buttons, 2-channel Relay Module and a linear DC geared motor. The control is in the hand of the user and he can sit down or stand up by pushing the buttons as one button is for the sitting purpose and one button is for the standing prupose. The walker can bend according to the need of the user.

3. To give support in sitting and standing, Electronic Smart walker has feature of outrigger system. For this purpose it uses the MPU-6050 which sensed the rotation of the Walker and the 2-channel Relay Module with a linear DC motor. When the walker starts to bend then this rotation is sensed by MPU-6050 due to which outriggers becomes open or close according to the rotation of the walker.

4. Electronic Smart walker has feature of Automatic Belt which gives an additional support to the user and for this purpose it uses Ultrasonic sensors, 2-channel relay module, 1-push button and a linear DC motor. when the user is in the surrounding of the walker, an automatic belt covers him, then the user can close the belt by pressing the button.

Benefits of the Project

1. old age people or impaired people can walk independently.

2. old age people or impaired people can sit or stand independenty and with safety.

3. User doesn't have to wear anything to use this walker.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

1. For step following wheels, it uses ultrasonic sensors, DC Rotary Motor ( brakeable), Arduino UNO Atmega 328P and a 1-channel Relay Module.

2. For sitting and standing feature, it uses 2-  buttons, 2-channel Relay Module and a linear DC geared motor. 

3. Electronic Smart walker has feature of outrigger system. For this purpose it uses the MPU-6050 which sensed the rotation of the Walker and the 2-channel Relay Module with a linear DC motor.

4.  For an Automatic Belt feature, it uses Ultrasonic sensors, 2-channel relay module, 1-push button, Arduino atmega 328P and a linear DC motor.
