This project is about the generation of electricty trhrough speed breaker by rack pinion method. It shows how energy can be obtained from speed breakers. It is a very effective means of producing electrical energy and fabrication cost is also reduced. As number of vehicles on roads are increasing day by day. A large amount of energy is wasted as heat and friction as vehicles passes over the speed breakers. So I have devised such a method to tap this energy. As vehicles pass over speed breakers, they leave potential energy on speed a breaker which is utilizes in this project and converted into kinetic energy by means of “Rack and pinion mechanism”. This energy is internally used to rotate flywheel whose energy is utilized by generators to produce electrical power. This paper illustrates a very simple process of converting potential energy into electrical energy.
The energy produced can be used for different loads. I have utilized it for providing power to street lights. In this paper, I have also discussed pros and cons of other methods rather than rack and pinion mechanism.

the aims and objectives of this project are as follows
Recently a new technique is introduced called speed breaker technology to produce electricity from the speed breaker used in road and high ways. Main theme of this technique is to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. Different mechanisms like rack pinion, roller, crank-shaft are used to enhance electricity from speed breaker Roller fitted in the road and vehicle passing over the [5] speed breaker are the source of generating electricity. Another one is efficient energy generating system using speed breaker with rack-pinion mechanism. Both of the mechanisms are experimentally implemented and effective. Rack and pinion mechanism is more efficient as compared to roller fitted on the road. Designing, implementation and execution of rack and pinion mechanism are the main area of discussion
The basic principle of rack-pinion mechanism is that it converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. This machine member converts reciprocating motion into rotary motion. The rotational power is stored in flywheel & flywheel rotates dynamo, which generates electricity. When vehicle will move on the speed breaker, the rack will be move in downward direction.
The rack is attached with free wheel type pinion which rotates in one direction only. The rack & pinion arrangement convert reciprocating motion into rotary motion. This rotary motion is further magnified by using gear box. The output of pulley is attached with flywheel which stores kinetic energy and transfer to dynamo which generate electricity with zero cost. Such a project that will produce more power and store it for use at night time as it proves to be a boon to the economy of the country

Power developed for 24 hrs. = 988.84W
As we have seen that the total output power including losses is the function of maximum load passing over the speed breaker and height of the speed breaker.
As we will change the input load the specification of the system would also change.
