Project Summary

The system will solve the agriculture issues and control the field with limited number of workers and this project based on solar system. This project generating the Techno-Environment which cover the field of agriculture with different aspects. Pakistan, economy mostly relay on agriculture. Farmer faced many difficulties during crops the field and planting to the wide area of lands and reduce the wastage of water. The aim of this system is to collect field data at regular and frequent interval and to reduce manual labour with the help of Arduino Mega. We are solving this problem by using IoT (Internet of things) based Smart Agriculture System providing a wireless communication to monitor crop fields using sensors like soil moisture, Temperature, Humidity, Water level Indicator and automate the irrigation system. In this system embedding these sensors under the land. Farmer can get the real time data on mobile and receives notification periodically from the sensors that are placed in the land. System is developed to monitor crop-field using sensors (soil moisture, temperature, humidity and water level indicator) and automate the irrigation system. In this project the main focus is that, to reduce human power through different aspects and make the agriculture smart. The features of this project are Plant monitoring, Drip Irrigation, Safe field & voice based Urdu application. This act of application gives more benefits to farmers.

Project Objectives

The main objective of project is to focus on plant monitoring, drip irrigation & safe field using renewable energy. 

Drip Irrigation: Drip irrigation also known as trickle irrigation or micro irrigation is an irrigation method which minimizes the use of water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either onto the soil surface or directly onto the root zone, through a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitter. In this irrigation system, a small amount of water is applied at frequent intervals in the form of water droplets through perforations in plastic pipes or through nozzles attached to tubes spread over the soil to irrigate a limited area around the plant. A precise amount of water equal to the daily consumptive use or the depleted soil water needs to be applied. The soil water can be maintained at the field capacity during the crop growing period. Deep percolation losses can be completely prevented and the evaporation loss is also reduced. Drip irrigation requires about half of the water needed by sprinkler or surface irrigation. When compared with overhead sprinkler systems, drip irrigation leads to less soil and wind erosion.

In this phase automate the water requirement depend on the need of plants. As the requirement occur (need of water plant), one motor turns on and fulfill the needs of plants, and then turn off automatically.

Plant Monitoring: Measure five major parameter for plant monitoring i.e. Temperature, Humidity, Ph, Soil Moisture & Leaf deficiencies. By measure these parameters the plant growth will be better than others. Leaf deficiencies give more appropriate result in plant growth. And also apply data analysis technique on gather data.

Safe Field: Birds/Animals annually cause severe damage to crops, destroy the rooftops, create unsafe situations at airports and transmit over 60 different diseases.

Autonomic is a fully automated bird repellent system that effectively and friendly scares birds away. This cost-efficient solution eliminates bird nuisance by up to 70%. Effective bird repelling across long distances and wide areas

Safe field system is that to safe field from objects (Birds/Animal/Human). Because of birds/animals there is too much flaws in the field so they damage field. But here is one condition is including when farmers are present in field so they Stop/OFF the alarm through application and when not present in field then Start/ON the alarm through application.

Project Implementation Method

For the implementation of this project idea can use different methods:

  1. Using sensors to gather real time data of plant growth.
  2. Using c- language to code in Arduino.
  3. Using data mining techniques to compare and analyze real time and actual data (storage data).

Using web view and Urdu translator to create application syntax in Urdu.

Benefits of the Project

The benefits of this project are as follows:

  1. Smart agriculture system plays an important role in increasing our country economy.
  2. This can minimize waste of water and other resource (i.e. fertilizer), because with the help of this application it fulfills the requirement of the plant.
  3. Reduce human effort as well as increase productivity.
  4. The main target market is rural area in agriculture and irrigation system.
  5. Farmers can get notification in mobile everywhere.
  6. This system is covering a large area of farm to keep checking the crop growth.

It includes hardware, software and design document:

1.Hardware:

It includes different type of sensors for:

  •  Drip Irrigation
  • Plant monitoring (To monitor temperature, humidity, PH & soil moisture).
  • Safe field (To detect objects)

2. Software:

It includes:

  • ISO for  mobile application
  • Languages (PHP, C, CSS, HTML, SQLITE, DATABASE, JAVA)
  • Photoshop, PowerPoint, MS-Word

3.Design document:

It includes SRS, (Software requirement Specification), also data mining techniques.
