Project Summary

In this project we are going to balance a self-balancing robot on the top of another self-balancing robot. This project is based on the Particle Robot Theory that states about the Modular Approach in the field of Robotics resulting more stable and efficient robots in future.The project is an application of inverted pendulum working in anonymous conditions.

Project Objectives

Till now we don’t have modular approach in the field of robotics. The problem faced in last few years that we have single unit/system to do all the work and if we faced any malfunctioning in this unit/system we have to replace the whole unit/system but now we are trying to overcome this problem by implementing modular approach. Modular approach in field of robotics results small robots to perform the same task which was taken by the single unit/system.

Project Implementation Method

Using Arduino which will take decisions on the angular and positional data fetched from accelerometer and gyroscope will help the robot to achieve vertical balance.

Benefits of the Project

Particle robots can form into many configurations and fluidly navigate around obstacles and squeeze through tight gaps. Notably, none of the particles directly communicate with or rely on one another to function, so particles can be added or subtracted without any impact on the group. In their paper, the researchers show particle robotic systems can complete tasks even when many units malfunction.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The output we hope to achieve is the Double Self-Balancing Robot ensuing the balance of one robot on another robot.
