The basic objective of the water ATM is to provide safe and clean drinking water at a low cost. About 20% of the whole population of Pakistan has access to safe drinking water. The remaining 80% of the population is forced to use unsafe drinking water due to the scarcity of safe and healthy drinking water sources. Water Vending Machines can prove to be really helpful in eliminating the problem of water scarcity and contaminated drinking water in Pakistan. People can rely on this affordable source for buying water even on a daily basis, as it wouldn't cost them much. This machine will be completely automatic, and it will dispense water by collecting coin or cash as payment. In addition, this machine will include a chilling system and a water RO system to ensure that the water delivered is clean, healthy, and drinkable. The total estimated cost for this project is around 300,000 Pakistani rupees, which is a significant sum, and funding is necessary to complete it.

In Pakistan, Water Dispensers are being used but there is no such machine, like Water Vending Machine. The scope of this project lies in Mechanical Engineering, Computer & Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and some extent to Chemical also. Some industries need projects that are innovative, export pushers, effective, and secure. It will highlight students' perspectives and provide a diverse selection of innovative ideas and brainstormers to the industry. There is no such risk factor present in this project. Revenue generation aspect in this project is also present by providing clean and safe water at much lower cost.

Water contamination is one of the world's most serious issues. The quantity of pure drinking water is diminishing day by day, owing to contaminated sources. About 20% of the whole population of Pakistan has access to safe drinking water. The remaining 80% of the population is forced to use unsafe drinking water due to the scarcity of safe and healthy drinking water sources. The primary source of contamination is sewerage (fecal) which is extensively discharged into drinking water system supplies. The secondary source of pollution is the disposal of toxic chemicals from industrial effluents, pesticides, and fertilizers from agriculture sources into the water bodies. Anthropogenic activities cause waterborne diseases that constitute about 80% of all diseases and are responsible for 33% of deaths.
Most individuals cannot afford bottled water because it is too expensive. As a result, people require affordable, clean, and healthy water, and we are proposing a concept to address these issues. Water vending machines could be extremely beneficial in Pakistan in addressing the issue of water scarcity and contaminated drinking water. People can rely on this economical source to get water on a daily basis because it is not expensive. Above all, they learn to conserve water and appreciate its value.

Technical Details of Final DeliverableOur goal is to deliver clean, healthy water at a cheaper cost by fixing the fresh water issue, as well as to design a productive machine that is affordable to potential end-users. This machine will include a RO system for water purification. A microcontroller to control the amount of water to be filled, according to the number of rupees entered. Sensors will be used to check the flow rate, to detect coins/cash, and to detect the water bottle when it is on the spot to be filled. The user will enter coin/cash. The machine will detect the coin/cash and fill the water bottle accordingly. On/Off switch will be there to stop water flow manually. Otherwise, it will stop automatically when all the water has flowed per the amount inserted.
