Project Summary

The study on different development technique has been carried out. Two type of development techniques are there. One is by using a module for detection and computing while other contain a transceiver which is used only to transmit and receive the signal whereas all of the calculation is done in a processing unit which is separately programmed. The module that is used for speed detection is OPS-241 and the transceiver that is used for this purpose is a Macom Transceiver.

  1. Literature review would be conducted for the Development techniques of Speed Gun Radar.
  2. Studying interfacing techniques of different equipment.
  3. Development the speed gun radar.

Project Implementation Method

Raspberry pi is the main processing unit required to interface it with the displaying and speed detecting unit. To interface with other units a python code is required which acquire processed detected speed from OPS-241 in the desired unit and frequency and show that result on the P-10 LED matrix through GPIO pins. As GPIO pins provide 3.3 volt but LED matrix work on 5 volts so we required a voltage level shifter that amplify 3.3V to 5V.

  1. Help in law enforcement.
  2.  Help in avoiding accidents by calculating the speed of the vehicle ahead.

The expected deliverables of this project are:

  1. Interfacing of OPS-241 with Raspberry Pi.
  2. Interfacing of P-10 display module with Raspberry Pi.
  3.  Development of OPS-241 based speed gun radar
