Development of gesture controlled electric wheelchair based on renewable energy for severe motor disabilities.
Everybody can contribute to others in different ways to make sure these unlucky people are not left behind in every aspect. Advancement in technology contributing in building a better wheelchair for disabilities.With increasing demands in electric wheelchair technologies to assist disable people to continue their lives, independently. This project innovation objective is not only concerned with mobility of patients, including also as cost effective, for specially pakistan citizens, and supporting renewable energy source. As combination of various sensors to improve performance of electric wheelchair is needed, the use of renewable energy source is required to make it available for number of disable patients from desert / rural areas who cannot afford electricity availability or its cost. Further, the objective of innovation on electric wheelchair can be setisfied as: first one is to ease moblility, second is as rehabiliation tool for severe motor impiarment patient and third is easy for maintenance and parts are available anywhere in pakistan. That's why the mechanism is as simple as possible and spare part is available anywhere.
1) To fabricate affordable electric wheelchair. 2) To provide smooth speed and movement control by using hand glouve.
3) Use of solar panel for battery charging to support renewable energy.
4) Use of hand glouve as Rehabiliation tool for severe motor disable patients.
This project based on gesture control input from user to move wheelchair in desired direction. Use of arduino lilypad takes input from human hand gesture to control the direction of wheelchair. use of solar panel, designed at sitting area of wheelchair, for charging batteries, to save electricity. Guiding battery status by displaying at LCD fitted at wheelchair. use of motor driver modules as dual channel providing advantage from burning out easily of motors because of its higher circuit specifications. Addition of helical gears for transmitting power from motor to wheel, this reduces the require power for moving wheelchair under heavy weights.

The purpose for this project is to improve the affordability of wheelchair among disable patients. This wheelchair provides renewable energy chagring capacity. Also, this gesture controller provide physiotherapist activity to human hand for their hand recovery.
