Project Title

Development of Double Rotation Vertical Axis Generator With Double Rotation of Wind Turbine

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

Basically, wind turbines capture wind power and convert it into electricity.

For common generators, the single rotation is commonly used in which only the rotor will rotate, the stator remain static. The output voltage of single rotating generator is limited therefore for solving this problem double rotation generator is deigned. This type of generator used is known as multifunction generator because the stator can be as a rotor and rotor can be as a stator, because of this condition the output produce by this type of generator will be greater than output produced by the normal generator. The upper and the lower blades are connected with multifunction generator. The rotation of blades is in opposite direction, this will cause greater percentage of a set of coils cutting  in magnetic flux. The rotation in both direction is main objective of this project. The blades must be designed as light as possible in order to rotate easily. Because of multifunction generator the output produce by this generator will be greater.

Project Objectives

1. To design a double rotation wind turbine generator

2. To fabricate a prototye of designed generator

3. To successfully test the output of the generator on the connected load

4.. To compare the output of proposed generator with conventional

Project Implementation Method

1. Complete study of working and components used in double axis rotation wind turbine generators

2. Design a double rotation wind generator on selected parameters

3. Develop a prototype of designed generator

4. Connect load with batteries and output voltage controllers to test the prototype

5. comparison of developed model with existing models

Benefits of the Project

1. It has ability to produce double output voltages as compared to single rotation wind generators

2. It will be functional on both high and low wind speed conditions.

3. It is economical as compared to single rotation wind turbine since it can deliever more power while having less overall cost.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In this research a double rotation wind turbine generator will be designed which can produce approximately double the output voltage and double output power as compared to the single rotation generators, this generator has upper and lower blades which can rotate in different directions, the output of the generator is fed to the charge controller which will make its output voltage constant and then a ac to dc converter by which a 12v battery will be charged and after battery again dc to ac inverter will be used to supply a 300 watt load.
