Project Summary

This project discusses about the development of a Multipurpose Agricultural Robot having autonomous driving and agricultural operations.

Design of agricultural robot is based on electronic and mechanical (Mechatronics) platform that perform advance agriculture process. This remotely controlled electromechanical vehicle is steered by DC motor to drive wheels and power is drawn from Lead acid battery that is charged through solar panel, installed on the vehicle

Project Objectives

The main objective is to make a solar powered agricultural robot designed for agricultural purposes. It is designed to minimize the labor of farmers in addition to increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the work. It performs the elementary functions involved in farming i.e.

  • Spraying water/pesticides
  • Ploughing
  • Sowing seeds
  • Checking the moisture level in the soil.
  • Plucking with image detection

The features incorporated in the agri-robot result in productivity enhancement, application accuracy improvement and increase in handling safety.

Project Implementation Method

In the current era the food industry is revolutionized by robotics and automation. The implementation method of agriculture robot is as follows.

  1. Crop selection is the act of choosing which crop to grow. This is more complex than it sounds. As any crop there can have probably 100 of varieties to select from. So one can select crop after seeing all the factors.
  2. Motors selection is also complex than it sounds. One should know the load characteristics and how much operating speed and torque he required before selecting a motor.
  3. Tyres selection is also a method in which one need to know the characteristics of tyres and their robot to select the best suiting tyre.
  4. Chasis design and basic car built: After all the pervious method now we have to built a basic car and first we have to design its chasis. Chasis and frame design is one of fundamental and most important stage during designing prosses. And it is started from analysis of load cases. After designing we have to work on it and built a car.
  5. Solar panel and battery installation and operate: After building a car first step we need to do is how to run a car. We definitely need some power source to run it. So we need to install solar panel and battery to our car and make it operate able .
  6. Making a water/pesticide sprayer tool: After building a car we need to make the water/pesticide sprayer tool. Now there are few steps by which we can make sprayer tool. First we need to choose the glass bottle with small mouth than add a sprayer nozzle onto the lid of bottle than screw the sprayer nozzle and trim the hose. .
  7. Making of humidity measuring tool: Humidity , the measure of the amount of moisture in the air measured by a specific sensor is used,finally installing in car
  8. Making of (sowing and ploughing) / (Plucking) tool: Seeds are put in the funnel and seeds go into the soil through long pipe which is carried over in the field with help of ploughs. The ploughing tool having special design blades turn over the upper layer of the soil, bringing fresh nutrients to the surface. If deliverable we are going to make a plucking tool that will pluck the fruits/vegetables based on IR differentiation.
  9. Testing: Now after making an operate able robot we need to test all the tools and and start the experiment in the fields.

Results and analysis: We need to collect the results and analyse it thoroughly to see that how our work/experiment undergo.
