DESIGN OF SOLAR TRACKING SYSTEM USING PIEZO-ELECTRIC EFFECT FOR MULTI-POWER GENERATION BASED ON IoT
Now a days, with increasing concern of global warming and the depletion of fossil fuel reserves, many are looking at sustainable energy solutions to preserve the earth for the future generations[4]. Other than hydro power, vibration and photovoltaic energy holds the most potential to meet our energy demands[4]. Similarly, solar energy is present throughout the day but the solar irradiation levels vary due to sun intensity and unpredictable shadows cast by clouds, birds, trees, etc. Solar energy is the viable source of renewable energy over the last two-three decades. It is now used in variety of fields such as industries, domestic purpose. Solar energy system is designed to collect maximum power from sun and to convert into electrical power. Another form of energy is Vibration energy (mechanical energy) is converted into electric energy by piezoelectric effect. In order to implement the said project/research more efficiently, the concept of piezoelectricity can be utilize for multi power generation. However, in the literature[2], piezoelectric-based energy-harvesting technology is applied to generate electricity from vibration. The concept of Piezoelectricity is described as the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid material in response to applied mechanical stress. Moreover, in this propose system, authors main focus is to make power generation more sustainable, economical and ecological by utilizing the advancement in the technology.
With advancement of wired and wireless network technologies, internet-connected mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets are now in widespread use. Thus, resulting in a new concept, Internet of Things (IoT), was introduced and has received attention over the past few years. In general, IoT is actually an information sharing.
In this project, we will have hybrid panel i.e., one side it will have solar panel and other side it will have piezo electric plate. Based on the weather conditions, the plate will be rotated automatically using dc motors. So whenever the day is sunny, solar panel will be faced up and whenever there is rainfall, the piezo electric plate will be faced up. For sensing the sun, we are using an LDR and for detecting the rainfall we are using moisture sensor.
The Micro controller is interfaced with IoT tracking system and moisture sensor along with servomotor. So, whenever the IoT tracks the sunlight, it provides input to micro controller and thus it drives the servomotor which in turn rotates the hybridized panel and solar panel faces the sun and solar panel starts charging the battery. Similarly, whenever the moisture sensor senses the moisture from the rain water, it provides the input for micro controller and micro controller drives the servomotor so that hybridized panel and the Piezoelectric panel faces up. The rain water hits the Piezoelectric panel and due to Piezoelectric effect, electricity is generated and battery starts changing.
