Design and scaled fabrication of Roller coaster
Amusement parks nowadays house a number of rides etc ( e.g. (Dark ride, Drop tower, Pendulum ride, Roller coaster, Simulator ride, Swing ride, Water ride, etc) with prime concern about the human safety. In Pakistan hardly locally designed gadgets are installed in limited amusement parks though locally reversed engineered gadgets are available. A number of cases have occurred where such gadgets failed and lead to fatal accidents. Objectives of this project are to train mechanical engineers to design and entrepreneur such openings. As an initiative, the most difficult and safety concern roller coaster is being designed and its scaled down model will be fabricated. Designing and it verification is linked with how safe is the ride. Its conceived to dovetail a safety circuit so that the coaster does not fail due to power lose.
The most important part in making roller coaster is designing. In this project, designing of the roller coaster is underway whereby designing the track, which includes launching track, ascend track, descend track and vertical loop. This design of shall fulfill all the required parameters for a smooth and thrill ride. Design verification will be done through commercially available software.
For safety in case of power lose, a continues power measurement at different points of the ride is being designed. This will enable to compare actual power measured at any point of the ride with required power as worked out for that point. Any deficiency in power requirement will be augmented by the ride drive mechanism. Also mechanical safety will be active at critical point all over the ride path.
Scaled down model will be fabricated to prove the concept
During the last decades, amusement parks have thrived and the industry has been growing steadily with no slowing in sight. Due to more people having access to a healthy and safe life, the need for amusement has grown, increasing the number of existing parks and rides. The amusement industry has benefitted from the advance of technology not only making rides safer and better designed but also making the ride experiences more sophisticated.
