Design and Prototyping of a Energy Efficient Eggs Incubator
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryTo design and prototyping of a energy efficient eggs incubator which will be able to consume less energy and will provide high production of chicks. The project will increase the efficiency of livestock industries and will pay positive role for growing demand of chicken production for the country. Artificial incubation cannot spread parasites and diseases to the chicks and lastly there is no cost for feeding a broody hen since an incubator is used. In addition the chances of eggs spoilage are minimized since all eggs are subjected to the optimal hatching temperatures
Project Objectives- Increase the production of chicks
- To provide good business opportunities
- To effciently automate the egg incubation using less power for poultry farms
- To meet the demand of zero hunger to meet sustainable development goals
In our project is completely solar powered system which will take accurate and precise measurements of the environmental parameters within the incubator by means of highly sensitive sensors collects the data on temperature, humidity and intensity of light. The system utilizes arduino to control all the peripherals which are connected to the system. This controller is fast enough and also possesses the ability to run multiple programs. Digital sensor are used to obtain the temperature & humidity. Incandescent lamp will be used as the heat source reduces substantial power consumption as against using heater. High efficiency fans are used to circulate the heated air within the chamber to maintain required temperature. A humidifier is used to maintain the pre set humidity in the entire internal system. A standard widely available 12C LCD display unit is integrated to the electronic module that is used as a display unit. The outputs from all the sensors are connected to the heart of the incubator, which gives the command to power on or off the desired peripheral connected to it, as deemed fit. A battery is also employed for backup purposes.

An automatic solar powered egg incubator system suitable for hatching chicken eggs and other kinds of eggs. Which will be designed and fabricated using the available local materials to achieve efficient performance. Factors affecting egg incubation include temperature, humidity, ventilation, heat and egg turning rate. These factors are necessary for the efficient performance of the incubator. Temperature range will always be kept at 37.5degrees of Celsius ( 99.5 degrees of Fahrenheit) this will be controlled by a thermostat and also humidity on this case will be controlled. Humidity must be maintained in 40 to 50 per cent for the first 18 days, 65 to 75 per cent humidity for the final days before hatching. We will deliver a complete egg incubation system which will perform hactching of chicks from eggs and will maintain the required temperature for its optimal hatching.
