KachreWala- A user-friendly application that bridges the gap between the scavengers, consumers and the recycling industry. A platform that enables the user to sell post-consumer items with the help of an application and enable the scavenger to receive the items from the door. The smooth flow of the application would enable the user to sell the reusable items with great ease. Global warming and unemployment are key issues that are faced in today's era. The third world countries are widely affected by this issue, the reason lies in improper disposal of waste and irresponsible utilization of the the recyclable material   Eventually the consequences would lead towards massive health and hunger issues. The solid waste management boards of various countries are unable to fulfill their responsibilities due to the tremendous increase in the population. Moreover the local industries purchase the raw material at higher cost, which results in high price of the ultimate product. If the recyclable waste would be utilized properly, by delivering it directly to the recycling firms or industries, then it would definitely decrease the production cost of the product. According to a report, only 9% of the plastic is recycled as compared to its production in Pakistan. The application would anticipate an impact not only in Pakistan but also in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and in the majority of third world countries, where a huge amount of waste is dumped on a regular basis. A number of poor people would get employment by this initiative, which would ultimately result in the downfall of hunger levels in the society. The standard of living would indeed be increased to a greater extent

Project Objectives

This initiative would empower people to think about the measures that could be taken to overcome land pollution and global warming related issues with the help of emerging technologies. According to a rough estimation, around 200-500 scavengers would start using this application after one year of commencement of the application in the market. The prime objective of this application would be to provide more employment opportunities to the scavengers. Furthermore the industrialists would be able to purchase the raw material directly from the customer, this would ultimately lead towards the production of low cost materials. The gap between customer-scavenger, customer-industrialist  is tried to be filled with the help of a cross platform application. If the everyday usable items of an ordinary person like used-toothpaste tubes, newspaper, unused wood and disposable articles would be recycled by making them available to the industry via the scrapper(Kabaria), then it would definitely create an impact by lowering the base manufacturing cost for the industry. The objective and purpose of this application is to minimize the global warming effect. The ultimate effect would result in minimizing the increase in unemployment of poor men/scavengers. Furthermore, KachreWala would provide a common application that could entertain the needs of scavengers, industrialists and the common man. All in all, this application would help the government in maintaining an eco-friendly and sustainable environment in the country

Project Implementation Method

The project will comprise three major Google based technologies mainly Flutter, Firebase, Google Maps API, and Money transfer services such as Stripe. Initially, the user would download the application through the Google Play Store. After downloading the application, the user will be prompted to SignUp the application. All the Signup details which include Name, Email, Mobile Number and Password would be saved in the firebase authentication record. Upon successful SignUp, the user would be prompted to Login the application. All the credentials of the user would be verified by the Firebase authentication stream. After successful login, users would be able to navigate through different screens with the help of a side navigation bar. The tabs present on the Navigation Bar are as follows: 

• Home Screen consists of the featured products that are most frequently purchased/sold, it contains the search bar to get the desired item instantaneously. Moreover it contains a setting page, through which the users can update their details and password credentials 

• Profile Screen contains the details of the user, user can aslo the details and profile picture with the help of this screen 

• Categories Screen consists of four category buttons through which the user can navigate the desired category to purchase/sell items. 

• There are mainly four categories i.e Plastic, Paper, Wood. In each category the number of related items are present. For the seller two options are present: he can sell the items manually by taking relevant pictures and the post details or he can just take the pictures of the scrap the Machine Learning Algorithm wil itself identify the correct category of the trash and post it accordingly

• As soon as the Ad would be posted by the user, a notification would be generated to all the Kabaria in the vicinity of the user

• The Kabaria who would accept the offer first would get the offer 

• Similarly, the Kabaria would be able to track the user with the help of live location i.e Google Maps

• Call feature would enable the user to coordinate with the person who had posted the Ad 

• Schedule Kabaria can help the customer to schedule the Kabaria to pick the trash at the desired timings 

• Payment option screen would help the users to pay and receive the payment through the digital medium of Stripe

• Lastly, the logout screen would enable the user to logout from the application

Benefits of the Project

As in Pakistan, especially in Karachi the business of scavengers is based on timely income, they usually rely on the availability of scrap around them, they get hired for a while and then someone sells them the scrap, this however is based on their luck. So, in order to make them in peace and to provide them a permanent job opportunity, this application would provide a notification to the scavengers, an alert that would be generated if someone nearby or all around wants to sell his/her trash, as a result the scavenger would negotiate with that person and arrive on that particular destination to purchase the trash/scrap. Furthermore, if a person is having a lot of recyclable products, then the notification would be generated to the representatives of the industry personnel, so that he would collect the designated amount of trash in bulk that could be recycled directly without the intervention of the third party. Lastly, the third client would be another person/firm that could purchase the available amount of trash if he needs for his/her specified purposes.  Moreover, the reusable trash such as plastic, wood and other raw materials, that could help in serving the industry as raw materials, would directly be purchased from the customer, without any third party contract. The customer would be attracted towards the application when he/she would find amazing discount deals, when he would achieve the threshold of the trash posting   As waste utilization is a major issue in third world countries, this application would help the government and industries to make most of the available recyclable waste. Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverables will include application package files for both Android and iOS phones compatible to most of the models and all screen sizes. The apk file will be delivered for android-11 phones as well as ipa file for iOS15 devices. The applications can be downloaded from both Apple store and Google’s Play store. 

Moreover, a dataset of images will be delivered along with the main application to train our machine in recognizing the materials. The data set would contain images of different materials, such as wood, glass, steel, plastic, paper, etc. 

Finally, a user guide for our consumers to give them the basic idea on how to use the application. The user guide will cover how to buy/sell the items on our app. Furthermore, it will guide them on transactions using e-wallets, how to schedule pickup as well as how to use the ML technology in identifying the products instinctively
