The density of traffic on the roads has reached an all-time high as the population grows. Traffic congestion is worsened by high traffic density, which wastes time. In established metropolitan areas and towns, traffic control has become a serious issue. The traffic patterns are dynamic and change on a regular basis. The dynamic traffic got more difficult to clear. whilst there's an emergency, which includes an ambulance or fireplace branch trapped in vehicles, priority should be given to them to continue first. In such instances, it's far required to automatically override the typical signal timings. Human motion have become crucial in clearing the gridlock in any such setting. the development of massive site vehicles on roadways is because of normal fixed signal timings. Enforcing real-time traffic management alerts relying on the street state, whether or not it is thinking about greater vehicles or now not, is the greatest method for resolving site vehicles. this can be done with CCTV cameras which are linked to a microcontroller. With the help of image processing strategies and filters, the CCTV cameras ship the acquired pictures to the RasspberryPI. The microcontroller sends out inexperienced and crimson signal lights based totally on the detected vehicles density. This approach regulates the period of site lighting, or traffic light timer, based on the wide variety of cars on the path. It also manages vehicles bypass permissions based totally on parameters which includes order, load, priority, and wait time on the street.

Project Implementation Method

  • In the proposed system, the vehicles are sensed and processed through imaging techniques instead of electronic sensors to improve accuracy.
  • Project is being implemented on prototype basis where 4(four) cameras are used, one on each side of junction to record the density.
  • Apart from that each of the side have RFID tags for Emergency vehicles as if any of the RFID Transceiver has detected an emergency vehicle the signal of that particular side will turn green either there is density on any of the side priority will be given to emergency vehicle and all of the other sides will turn red.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • Webcams and RFID technology will be installed at intersections as part of the proposed route. These high-definition cameras will detect car lines and turn on a green light to control the flow of traffic in extremely dense areas. Cameras will monitor the influx of vehicles on all sides. If there is no traffic present on any lane the traffic lights will move on normally. As a result, when cars on one of the roads pass by at the crossroads, other vehicles on the road receive a red light indicator. Only when the most congested traffic light has passed is the crossroads will be cleared. In this program, CCTV cameras regularly record traffic on each side of the road. These images are transferred to a small controller, which sends commands to other controller, causing them to turn red light to green and all the others to red.
