3.  Quality of climbing on stairs will be smooth since we are using belt drive mechanism so there  will be less jerk exerted on the wheel chair as compared to other wheel-chairs.

4.  Less time consumption as compared to Rover Type Stair Climbing or others ,which consumes more time to climb up a single step.

5.  Easy construction. Can be built easily with minimum effort.

6.  Low cost because we use timing belt which is easily available.

Project Objectives

The main of project is to design the prototype and it is as follow

a)  Propose a design of wheelchair that will increase

the  mobility  and  functionality  in  climbing  of

stairs.

b)  Making the total prototype as cost-effective ad as

less expensive as possible.

c)  Forming  of  a  wheelchair  structure  that  would

carry up to 1kg

d) automatically stable the chair while climbing chair

Project Implementation Method
  1. In  this  design,  DC Geared motor  is  connected  to  belt  drive  pulley Mechanism. 
  2. The  dc motor controlled by joystick.
  3. When in forward position battery power is connected to  motor,  hence  it  move  forward. 
  4. When  it  is  in  backward position  terminals  are  reversed  make  the motor to  rotate reverse direction.
  5. While  neutral  there  is  no  power  connection  to  DC Motor and interlocked.
  6. The  climbing  of  staircase  can  be  controlled  with  minimal  efforts  and  degree  of adjustment  to  the  seat  can  be  made  automatically  according  to  the  elevation  of staircase without giving much jerk to the user or patient.
Benefits of the Project
  1. The  disabled  persons  are  to  face  a  more difficulties,  when  they  have  to  locomotion  of  ascend  or descend the staircase.
  2. An  automatic  Stair-climbing  wheelchair  can  be  a  good solution  for  the disabled people to improve their  personal  mobility  and to access most of the buildings.
  3.  If the disabled person wants to reach  higher floor ,  it’s  inconvenient  for  person  to move upstairs independently.
  4. The stairs climbing wheelchair used as a transport tool & plays an important role in the life of physically disable peoples.
  5. It is widely used for patients in hospitals and buildings.
