Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryThis project is concerned with performance enhancement of small capacity petrol engine. These small capacity petrol engines are used in numerous daily life machines like loaders, lawnmovers, chain saw and electricity generator etc. The performance of engine can be improved by engine parameters like Fuel Consumption, Torque, Breakhorse Power (BHP). Fuel consumption can be improved by complete combustion while Torque and BHP can be enhanced by increasing the amount of air fuel mixture into the combustion chamber of the engine. The discussed improvement is generally achieved by implementing Turbocharger or Supercharger. Turbochargers have Turbo lag and the operate at high RPM while Superchargers have their mechanical losses. Therefore electric supercharger is selected for this project. The electric supercharger will imrove combustion and increasing the Torque and BHP with a very little increase in weight.

Benefits of the ProjectThe load carrying capacity of machines can be increased by increasing power of small size engines without incresing their weight. It decreses the overall cost of machine.
