Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryInternal combustion engine produces a large amount of harmful gases like co2,so2 etc which pollute the environment and causes global warming and it consumes enormous non renewable energy so today every country is in search of alternative source of energy and there are couple of alternative source of energy such as solar power,tidal power,geothermal power and one of them is compressed air.The reciprocating air engine (RAE) runs on air only,no fossil fuel.The maximum pressure required for operating RAE is 5 bar.This technology is cheaper in cost and maintenance and it does not carry any kind of harm to the environment. Thus the RAE will play a vital role in reducing air pollution and also in reducing temperature of the earth.RAE uses air as a fuel which is available abundantly in atmosphere.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective is to develop reciprocating air engine (RAE) which can be run on compressed air.
In RAE air uses as a fuel and exhaust is also in the form of air.
Other objectives are as follows ;
> Design and fabrication of chassis
> Design and fabrication of storage tank
> Braking system
> Less weight as much as possible
Project Implementation MethodWe use double acting compressor or called as reciprocating air engine . From the storage tank (storage of compressed air ) the compressed air will come to the RAE and it will be operated with a pressure of 5 to 6 bar which is available with us . We use solenoid valves for the opening and closing of inlet and outlet automatically and this solenoid valves is operable with the help of 12 volt battery .
RAE will reciprocates to and fro and this is connected to the crank shaft , than to the flywheel and than to the tyres.
Benefits of the Project>No use of expensive fossil fuels as the free air is compreesed and than taken to use
> Smooth working will lead to less wear and tear so less maintenance cost
>Once compressed air is stored through compressor it will be available at any time without any loss of pressure.
> No need of complex system like spark plugs , fuel injection system etc
>If this technology is widely used than it will help in controlling global warming .There are some green bytes associated with this technology.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableDouble acting compressor or RAE is used in this vehicle instead of complex engine system which is very easy to install and are available easy in the market.
> Environment friendly
> No harmful emissions or gases
Will be helpful for golf club and interdepartmental purposes .
Solenoid valves are used in this with operable on 12 volt battery .
