Design Analysis and Fabrication of Water Turbine for Slow Moving Water
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryThere are almost one billion people around the world who are bound to survive without electricity as they are unable to afford the electricity. It is a global challenge to provide affordable clean energy to everyone. One of the ways of energy generation is its extraction from moving water in which kinetic energy is first converted into mechanical energy and then to electrical energy. The aim of this project is to design and fabricate a prototype of a turbine for energy extraction from slow-moving water. This water rotor is meant to harvest green energy in slow-moving waters. The design is environment-friendly and doesn’t cause any harm to the sea creatures as well.
Project Objectives- To extract green energy.
- To build an efficient system in terms of power generation.
- To design and fabricate a prototype of a turbine for slow-moving water.
- To provide affordable energy from the environment-friendly device.
- Literature review
- Review of all parameters required in the designing process
- Designing a water turbine for slow-moving water
- Simulation of the designed model
- Fabrication of designed model
- Refinements in the model
- Testing of the fabricated model
- Finalizing model after required refinements and testing
- Final thesis and report
- The proposed design will harvest green energy.
- It is environment-friendly.
- Useful in remote areas as it provides low-cost electricity.
- Efficient in terms of power generation.
- The design is portable/mobile.
- The main benefit is it generates energy from slow-moving water waves so it can extract energy from the sea and river tides.
- Renewable source of energy. Economical and easy installation of the project can help to commercialize it in Market.
| A final deliverable has a fully functioned water turbine which will extract green energy from the slow moving water. The turbine design will be much efficient to power basic electrical equipment. The design will be safe for the environment and the water bodies. The design will be capable of generating more torque from low-velocity water. |
