Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThis project is related to the deployment of customized payload attached to 3U cubesat structure. The deployment mechanism will be designed in such a way that that 2x1U cubesat or custom design experiments will be deployed from 3U cubesat/deployer orbiting in the specified orbit. The main task is to design
- To design the entire deploying module within a space of 100x100x200mm (width x height x lenght) .
- Door opening mechanism within the 3U CubeSat because when 3U CubeSat is fixed in its deployer there should be minimum clearance of 6.5mm.
- Payloads separation mechanism for smooth sparation of payloads after deploying from 3U CubeSat deploying module.
- Electronic circuitry for triggered door opening mechanism using wifi module.
Whole deploying system including payload does not violate cubesat and its deployers standards and requirements.
Project Objectives- To fit custom payloads (one or more pocketqubes) in 2U CubeSat space inside the deploying module.
- Designing door opening mechanism within the deploying module applying effeicient technique and consuming minimum space.
- To design the self-opening spring hingh mechanism for the door
To design the separation mechanism for payloads after deployment.
Project Implementation Method- Review the literature on cubesat (1U, 2U, 3U) locking mechanism of deployers and deployment switch.
- Design the structure of whole deployer which includes spring,hinge door opening mechanism, payload separation mechanism under specified dimensions and actuating circuitary to actuate motor for door opening by sending wirless signal from laptop.
Fabricate the design and observe its functionality
Benefits of the ProjectDirect:
- To provide a platform for small space organization and universities to deploy custom payloads and experiments in space.
- Doesn’t require separate deployer for pocketqubes or small payload.
Indirect:
- Deployed payload and deploying module both are utilized for specific purpose creating no derby.
- This module provides an option to choose the best timing for the payload ejection without affecting the orbitall path of main deploying module.
A deploying module capable to deploy 70mmx70mmx150mm (or less) cube-like payload fit into the 3U cubsat. Camera will be placed near to the deployment cube to observe the experiment. Door opening mechanism triggered by electronic circuitry will be controlled wirelessly using laptop.
