DEFSOIL(Data Ex-Filtration in Free Space Over IR Laser) system can be usedby Field agents of Intelligence Agencies to Ex-filtrate or Receive Secret info. It will help to
Exchange info without external detection. It has 4 modules. The First Module will convert aplain text file into ASCII. The Second module will transmit the ASCII by controlling the
fluctuation time of the IR Laser. The Third module will make the video in real time through theIR camera. Image segmentation will be performed on this video. Finally, in the fourth modulethe segmented images will be converted into the text using image processing on the 7-bit ASCII.

Project Objectives

Objectives are as Follows

  1. Transmit data using IR laser in any air gapped network
  2. Secure and Undetectable transmission 
  3. Practicise the data image processing and segmentation of video feed.
  4. Making use of dedicated one to one communication channel
Project Implementation Method

Project Implementation method are given as follows:

  1. Selection of a txt extension file using GUI
  2. Conversion of a txt to ASCII 
  3. ASCII to binary bits conversion
  4. Transmission of bits using a set of seven IR lasers 
  5. Recording Video using Camera on receiver side 
  6. Segmenting a video 
  7. Identifying bits 
  8. Converting to ASCII
  9. Converting to a txt  extension file
  10. Storing the txt file 
Benefits of the Project

Beenfits are as under:

  1. It can be used for secure data                          ex-filtration (Transmission and receiving) specially by Intelligence agencies.
  2. Use of Raspberry Pi for bit conversion and transmission control. 
  3. Making use of IR laser. 
  4. Practicalising the knowledge of video segmentation and image processing.
  5. Maintaining secure communication in one to one dedicated air gapped network. 
Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Technical details are as follows:

  1. Sender side GUI for selection of .txt file
  2. Embedded system including system controller and set of seven IR lasers for bit conversion and transmission 
  3. Camera on a receiver side for recording video 
  4. Desktop application for video segmentation and bit identification. It will also do the bit conversion to a txt file and will store the file.
  5. User authentication feature on both sender and receiver side.
