Different EBG unit cells were designed and optimized using CST MW Studio. The structures were Mushroom, Swestika, and Cross Hair. The unit cells were populated into an array to place the cells in a linear patch antenna array of 2 elements. The performance of all the structures was compared and the best was fabricated for a practical design. The results were well in agreement with the measured results.
