Project Title

comparative performance study of various inverters for solar photovoltaic.

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

With the increasing development of the world’s power grids, topics such as energy conversion, renewable energies, new systems and their applications in different industries and the relation between them, has caused the power engineering to be one of the most important and interesting science of our time. Today we can see the development of power girds overall the world.

One of the most important issues in this field is power electronics. Today the power electronics devices are made in many different types for various applications, such as rectifiers, AC-AC regulators, current- and voltage choppers, inverters, power supplies etc. Among these, inverters are one of the most important and widely used devices.

in this project we would be analysing two different inverter topologies one of them is known as "single-stage common ground boost inverter" and the other one is known as "boost five level inverter"

Project Objectives
  1. To study the behavior of different inverter types.
  2. To simulate the (S2CGBI) inverter topology.
  3. To analyse the behavior of (S2CGBI) inverter.
  4. To simulate the (B5LI) inverter topology.
  5. To analyse the behavior of (B5LI) inverter.
  6. To implement the hardware of both the inverters.
Project Implementation Method
  1. at first, we would design switching pulse by designing pulse width modulator for both the inverters (S2CGBI) and (B5LI).
  2. than we would design the proposed topology in LTSpice for both the inverters.
  3. Then we would feed the switching pulse to the proposed topologies.
  4. Then we would investigate the ac output.
  5. Then we would compare both the inverters.
Benefits of the Project

Our project would benefit both the manufacturers and the user as we would be comparing the performance of two inverters.one would be able to distinguish that which one of the inverter is best for himself.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

this thesis comapres two different topologies.at the end we would be having comparative data with respect of power losses ,cost weight and total harmonics destortion.
