The asset inventory includes not only the asset's names and serial numbers, but also the asset's location within the organization, its operating condition, maintenance status, and inventory quantity, as well as any other information the organization wishes to record.
The goal of this project is to develop a cloud-based web application called Smart Asset Management System for managing any organization's assets.
The Smart Asset Management System (SAMS) is a system for tracking and maintaining valuable assets for an organization or group. It's a system for efficiently deploying, running, maintaining, upgrading, and disposing of assets
The Smart Asset Management System will manage both consumable and non-consumable assets, such as buildings and intellectual property
Project ObjectivesIn order to solve and efficiently carry out this task, a smart assets management system is inevitable. The main objectives for this smart assets management system can be as follows;
- Tracking Inventory: A good system will help you keep track of your inventory and offer a centralized view of stock across the organization
- Control your costs: Keeping reports about your inventory helps you understand what stocks are doing well, versus which are just taking up shelf space.
- Manage planning and forecasting: The software can help you improve demand forecasting by analyzing data trends from well-performing stocks.
- Improve your delivery: Late delivery due to stock-outs is bound to give you a bad reputation and may cause latency in important tasks
- Reduce the time for managing inventory: With a good inventory management solution, you can reduce the time taken to keep track of all the products you have on hand and on order.
- Advance Barcode Integration:
Each item in the inventory can be scanned using a barcode system, in this way the system will track the inventory in automatic management.
The steps involved in using the cloud-based smart asset management system are as the following:
1. Authentication-Login
Users can log in to the system with their own account and do the following:

2. Manage User Permission
Administrators can manage user permissions such as

After login, the user can add, edit remove and perform other functions such as;

Users can manage Organization locations such as;
- Create Location/building

6. Request Management
- Users can manage asset requests and perform functions such as;
- Submit request
- Approve request
- Search request

System’s Functionalities
- Maintaining a list of all inventory assets, including barcodes and multiple descriptive attributes per inventory item;
- Managing the current location of all inventory assets, including off-campus locations (e.g., professor's home, in the field, on a job site, etc.);
- Managing a system of requests, approvals and confirmations to create work orders and detail the movement of inventory assets;
- Maintaining a rigid set of User Permissions to ensure access to use appropriate data ONLY (searching and/or editing);
- Creating a variety of reports including a detailed log of system use;
- Reporting errors or problems such as:
- Broken furniture or equipment
- Missing furniture or equipment Expiring Warrantees
