CELLPHONE SIGNAL BOOSTER
| Project Area of Specialization |
Information & Communication Technology | | Project Summary |
- According to the report of university of Calabar in Nigeria, the increasing number of cell phone users has bought to the limelight the progressive decline in the quality of service experienced by mobile phone users. In Pakistan, many companies provide the networks such as jazz and warid mutually are serving 59 million subscribers with 36 percent of total market share(according to 2019 report of PTA).
- It is frustrating when your call drops during any important conversation. There are some factors like reflection, interference, diffraction, scattering and shadowing due to tall bulidings, trees, etc during the handoff which leads to the weak signal reception in different areas that finally results in dropped calls and network inaccesability.
- So it became very important to boost the signals and provide the people with better standards of wireless communication. With time many researches were made to boost the received signals and extend the range. In literature, many research efforts have also been made in designing the signal booster that provides uniterruptable calls.
- The booster will work in a way that the outdoor antenna will pickup the weak signals from the nearest located tower, boost them and then pass such amplified signals to indoor antennas that broadcast the signal throughout your cell phone for enhanced connectivity. An average booster will have a gain no less than 25dB.
| | Project Objectives |
- to boost the cellular voice and data signals so you have fewer dropped calls and lost connections, and you get faster data uploads and downloads in weak-signal areas(mines, basements, malls, villages, etc).
- Emergency calls can be made easily without interruption from basements and mines.
- Mines are very dangerous to work in.So people in danger can contact outside in time and many lives can be saved.
- to construct a booster which enhances the signal strength and extend the range of communication.
- This booster will be constructed by using relatively lower in cost components.
- To enable the user of this device enjoy a seamless, uniterrupted and reliable communication.
- To enable the user of this device obtain stronger signal strengths across longer ranges.
| | Project Implementation Method |
- Once an engineer has done with this project,it gets very easy for a layman to install it anywhere he wants.
- The size is compact and needs no operator of 24/7 after its installation. The system will work in its flow.
- The outdoor antenna is settled outside the building, room or mine and the indoor antenna as well as the booster kit along with it is placed inside the building so that the signal is well spread all over the required or specified area.
| | Benefits of the Project |
- All the benefits are going to be achieved by the people and they are as follows:
- It hepls in quality education in a way of distant learning programs in areas where the signals are weak.
- People working in the mines have health and safety issues;so in case of emergency they can get boosted signals and can be rescued in time.Mostly fatal accidents are caused just because of no contact in case of emergency. So casualties in mines can be conrolled.
- Having a cellular signal booster ensures students and teachers have the cell phone signal that is essential to contacting emergency services when it is needed most i.e.in basements or in a no signal area(dead zone).
- It can improve the quality of service in the hospitals and malls of mega cities where due to extensively high number of subscribers the service declines.
- In far flung areas where there are weak signals because of the hills or the green lands like rural areas,it is again beneficial for them in emergency cases.
- Good for media people in report gathering from far flung areas and keep intact with their head offices through this device.
| | Technical Details of Final Deliverable |
- Outdoor antenna picks up the weak signal from outside the building and sends it to booster sytem consisting of amplifiers and filters;this comes out as strong signal and coaxial cable carries it to indoor antenna which spread the signal in 360 degree direction.
- Then the indoor antenna sends the signal to booster and it sends strong signal to outdoor antenna. This signal is strong enough to reach the nearest cell tower(BTS) and hence this cycle of uninterruptable connection is developed.
