Project Summary

The basic and foremost purpose of science is finding, determing and solving the problems and issues that humanity faces. So similar to that we as engineers stumbled acrossed a medical complication and that problem was the difficulty in walking faced by the old people, the blind and semi-disable people that needs a stick to move around. To rejunevate our minds to find an engineering solution we had to surf through the vast sea of walking aid-machines and then influenced by this era of robotics and artificial inteligence we were on the path to resolve this issue inform of an AI robot for the help of old people and semi-disable patients.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Being aware of the dominance of fourth generation technology, the AI and robotics, in the field of science and specifically in the domain of electrical engineering with emergence of hybrid self-driving cars and drones under the leader ship of the pioneer of modern electrical engineering Elun Musk of Tesla.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  So we introduced our selves to a walking aid cane Robot that is very much similar to the stick held by the old but with one difference, the difference of having a cane like structure for the lower part. In simple plain words this cane robot is no different then a wooden or an iron stick but with one improvement and that evolvement is the ability of the robot to rebounce back from the imbalancement of this robotic machine on its own which is the very definition of artificial inteligence, a function that a normal support cannot perform and once the stick looses balance it do not have the capability to bounce back on its own.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         By delivering the outcome we will be able to make a robot that can resolve this issue and not only that but we will make a room for further improvement by carrying out surveys and research regarding further ways we can handle this issue .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         So doing so we will have perhaps achieved if not all then an essence of the pupose of engineering that in reality is to pave the way for humanity and solving the crisis of old, blind and semi-disable people is the best example at that.
 

Project Objectives

The aims and goals we want to achive are                                                                                                                                                                                                                               1) Making a walking vessel for those that have complications in walking due to old age or some neuroloigical disorder.                                                                                                                                                                                                         2) To ensure the safety of old people from fatal falls.                                                                                                                                                                                                               3) Making an walking assisting and obstacles detecting robot for the blind.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   4) Solving the universal crisis of hip and spinal injuries that leads up to a confirm death according to many sound studies.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       5) Furthering the work and expertise of engineering sector in Pakistan in the field and domain of Robotics and artificial inteligence.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  6) Evolving the cane robot to transmitt information wirelessly, a feat never done before, to prevent the mixing up of wires with each other.
 

Project Implementation Method

The working mechanism of the walking aid cane robot is that                                                                                                                                                                                                   1) When someone is about to fall then the load sensor in the shoes detects that potentail fall phenomenon by detecting the inbalancement in the feet of the user. As known by medical science that humans can recover from a possible fall if they balance their feets within 800 ms so we through this robot make sure that the person recovers within 300 ms.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    2) Afterwards the the information of  imblancement in the centre of pressure (COP-FD) in the feet is recognized by the acceleration sensor.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    3) Then that information is wirelessly transmitted from acceleration sensor to microcontroller based electronic circuit.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         4) Now if the imbalancement is crossing the limit of support polygon, the limit after which it is impossible to avoid a fall, then the microcontroller will enable FPC system                                                                                                                                                                                                                       5) The Falling prevention controll system (FPC) consists of two dc motors that automatically on the message of microcontroller starts moving in an inclined angle with each other that transmitt mechanical power.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        6) The mechanical power is then used by an aluminum stick that moves to an optimum angle and with help of that stick the user strangled by the problem in walking can avoid a possible fall.                                                                                                                                                                              7) Further more an ultra sonic sensor will be there for the detection of obstacles for the blind or

Benefits of the Project

1)This cane robot and AI shoes will aid the old, blind and semi-disable people in walking. This will be an 2 in 1 project given that it detects a fall for old and semi-disable and can detect obstacles for the blind that generally are seperate projects.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      2) Providing hospitals with these robots that can prevent many fatal falls so in a way improving the medical association of Pakistan in tackeling the issues faced by senior citizens and the blind.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      3) With this robot old people, blind people and semi-disable people can move around easily.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  4) With this robot the hip injuries that leads up to death 95% of the times cane be dealth with.                                                                                                                                               
 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

After a implementing the blue print of the conceptual design thorougly, we will have                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                1) A robot with self decision making ability, one of the forms of artificial inteligence (AI), to handle any hazardous and harmful turn of events faced by the user ( Both Old and the semi-disable people).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 2) Fall detecting shoes embedded with artificial inteligence.
