Project Title

Biodegradable plastic

Project Area of Specialization Biomedical EngineeringProject Summary

Bioplastics are plastic materials produced from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, recycled food waste, etc. Bioplastic can be made from agricultural by-products and also from used plastics (i.e. plastic bottles and other containers) by using microorganisms. Bioplastics are usually derived from sugar derivatives, including starch, cellulose, and lactic acid. Common plastics, such as fossil-fuel plastics (also called petrobased polymers) are derived from petroleum or natural gas but our target is to make edible bioplastic via microbial interventions.

Project Objectives

The main aim to carry out this project is to reduce the pollution around us as this project is really eco-friendly and will help us alot to combat the global warming in future.

Project Implementation Method

This project can be implemented industrially as well as commercially.  As in this project we will use the raw material from the fields that are left unimportant and become the cause of environmental pollution by burning . the burning of this raw material from the rice and wheat fields is the main cause of pollution in the environment because the burning cause the smoke and pollute the envrionment by becoming the cause of green house effect and Ozone depletion. This project is totally eco-friendly and will eradicate the plastic that takes thousand of years to decompose and is the main cause of pollution in the environment.

Benefits of the Project

The project benefits are:

zero waste management, eco friendly environment, benefits healthy and clean environment and Excessive consumption of plastic can be superseded.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The Final product will be Edible Microplastic which will be produced by using the micro-organisms and the lefted raw material from the fields. In this project innovation is involved because we will make the palstic that will replace that old palstic which takes 1000+ years to decompose and is the main cause of environmental pollution.
