To address this problem, we are proposing a mood monitoring and suggesting system which will continuously extract the facial gestures using image processing and heartbeat using wristwatch. It will identify the mood using data mining techniques and analyze potential effects of mood swing on user’s health. It also suggests the user some appropriate meatus. According to the mood swing, it will maintain a history and generate statistics locally on the employees’ computer. If the employees’ mood is continuously labelled bad for instance, the system continuously records the anger based on the facial gestures, then the system will prompt a health tip like go for a walk, take a short nap etc.
It will also maintain the history and statistics of the mood swings of all users at server and will help the organization to identify the factors that badly affect the employee’s work. In this way, the organization would distribute the proper workload among the employees. The employees can also keep themselves healthy following the mental therapy prompt on their screen.
This project hits different domains, specifically Data Mining, Image Processing, web engineering, and Database management systems.
Project Objectives- To help employees to stay mentally healthy at work.

- To help the employees to review the statistics of their mood swings.
- To ensure a stress free environment.
- To maintain a productive environment at workplaces.
This system is the combination of both, software and hardware. In hardware implementation, there will be a camera attached to the monitor screen of the employee to monitor the facial gestures continuously. Furthermore, there will be a wrist band to identify the heartbeat of an employee. Wristband will be connected to the computer wirelessly and will send the heartbeat rate to the system. This combination will help the system to produce the better and accurate results.
On the software side the system will be implemented via using .NET Framework (C# language) and at the back end python language will be used. Python language will help in order to process the image (monitored by front camera of the system / monitor screen) to identify the facial gestures and mood labeling. It will maintain the mood swings statistics at the local end. It will prompt the user if the software records the continuously below average performance of your mood and suggests mental or physical therapy.
Mood Monitoring and Suggestion System - MMSS architecture will be based on MVC (Model View Controller) pattern with centralized database (all the users’ data will be kept safe in the main database).
Benefits of the Project- Employees operating under manageable levels of stress will be happier and more positive, helping to maintain a strong, healthy workplace that’s conducive to creativity and productivity.
- Our system also helps users to detect what made them stressed by reviewing the statistical result of their mood for the entire day, so they can avoid the things causing them stress for a healthier life.
- Stress is one of the leading causes of short attendance at workplace. A stress-free workplace will not only result in less “mental health days,” but it will also reduce the amount of sick days taken by employees due to weakened immune system as a result of excessive stress.
- A happy employee can make his environment blissful whether it’s his or her home or workplace.
- Being stress-free is to be healthy and letting the people around you be happy and stress-free. A happy employee enjoys working at a company, he or she is more compelled to be attached to the organization.
The final deliverable of our project will be a combination of hardware and software including webcam, wristband for heart beat tracing. At last the System will be in a complete occupied formation.
The System will be accompanied the following hardware components:
- Webcam to detect and monitor the continuous facial gestures.
- Wristband to trace the continuous heart rate.
- The System will record the statistics and will send it to the server.
- A computer to process the image processing and data mining techniques to generate the accurate results.
All in all, this project will produce the hardware and software based complete system that will need a normal installation like any other application software.
