This robot is designed to be environment-friendly and exercised by a rechargeable battery solar panel
connected to it and can be described as an intelligent robot because the microcontroller receives
information from several sensors (PIR, Humidity and Bumper switches) connected to it which by the way
avoid obstacle to make sure a clean pattern of cut and the right utilization of information to trigger the
left and right motors driving the wheels and the center motor driving blade and it also performs all
parameters of work and its program database.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of this project is to design and evaluate an autonomous lawn mowing robot. The following are the objectives of the project:
- Regulate the materials and the electronic elements which will be required in the design.
- Design and produce an autonomous lawn mower from locally sourced materials.
- Use Solar Panel for recharging a battery as a power source of the system.
- Develop an autonomous system that mows lawn grass cleanly.
We will develop a “solar powered vision-based robotic lawnmower” that will give the user the ability to cut
their grass with minimal effort. While designing this lawn mower powered by solar energy, we make sure that most of the energy comes from the sun.
The components that will be used developing this are Arduino UNO, Ultrasonic sensor, Reed sensor, Project shield, motors, integrated circuits, and few other components. The main component that would be powering up the robot is Solar panel. integrated circuits named ACS712 allow the measuring of the current supplied by the solar panel and of the current absorbed by the cutting engine.

Everything is based on the usage of a simple electric wire connected to a control unit powering the wire itself with an alternating electric signal at about 10 V and a frequency of 34KHz. In the lower part of the chassis of the robot two small reels are installed, one on the right side, the other on the left side, both referring to an electric circuit formed by a capacitor in parallel. The circuit formed by the parallel inductance and the capacitor is called parallel resonating circuit and is calculated so that the tension at its ends, induced by the external magnetic field, is at a maximum when the magnetic field varies with a frequency of 34KHz.
Benefits of the Project- The autonomous lawn mower is used to cut the grass by navigating the grass by its sensors.
- It will detect the obstacle and perform collision avoidance by ultrasonic sensors.
- The robot is fully autonomous it covers the given area by sensing the grass and obstacles.
- The robot that is run on the solar panel and a battery which stores the current in and supplies the current when the robot is in a shadow area.
- The robot used for the time-saving.
- It performs functions automatically.
In the final deliverables, we will provide you an autonomous and intelligent robot.
