Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn this project we are going to design automatic sorting machine by using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI).Manual sorting is a time and effort intensive process. Automatic sorting systems allow for fast and efficient sorting of products. To demonstrate the sorting system we develop a PLC based sorting system project that uses weight sensing system powered by PLC control to achieve this functionality. The system consists of a conveyor belt to carry products from one end to another.
The system will short two types of product according to their weight if there is any error in our product so the product will not be sort and we come to know about the error in our product.
Sorting is a need of many industries like pharmaceutical companies and other manufacturing companies.
This project will help us to clear our understanding regarding industrial automation and also help us to create links with in the industry. In Pakistan our industries are going to automate soon and there will be a huge scope of automation in early future.
Project ObjectivesManual sorting is a time and effort intensive process. Automatic sorting systems allow for fast and efficient sorting of products and it also reduce humans efforts and automatic sorting is more accurate than manually sorting ,The biggest drawback of manual sorting is that human can’t work 24/7 in a day with same consistency but machine can so that’s why we are interested in automate our industries.
In this project we are using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) as a controller which is highly effective and accurate than any other controller and Human Machine Interface (HMI) for the interfacing of our system with our audience.
In this project we will use load cell to measure the weight of product,load cell will give the data to PLC, now PLC will decide whether the product will be short or not. Shorting will be done through actuator contected on the output channel of PLC.
If there is any error in our product so the product will not be sort,so we will receive the defaulter product on the other hand of conveyor belt.
Project Implementation Methodour project will mainly focus on the follwing objectives;
1.Conveyor designing .
2.Mechanical structure.
3.Load cell interfacing with PLC (Programmable Logic Control).
4.Ladder logic designing.
5.HMI (Human Machine Interface) designing.
6.Actuator interfacing with PLC
7.Electrical pannel.
8.Final testing
